OLIVIA’S POV I had counted the hours. And then the hours blurred into a day. And still, he hadn’t come. I don’t know why but this seems a bit odd to me. If Dorian is really on our side he should have contacted Dominic by now and Dominic should have been here. But I wasn’t losing hope. This time, I believed him. Dominic would come. He had promised. And after everything we’d endured—after all the pain, betrayal, and silence—I knew he would move heaven and earth to find me this time. Last time Evelyn managed to fool both of us, but now she was out of the picture, and he won’t leave me behind. Our kids are counting on us. My heart ached while thinking of my kids. I just hope they are fine. Still, I couldn’t help the flicker of doubt. What was taking him so long? Is he okay? I sat on the edge of the cold bed, my fingers digging into the scratchy blanket as my thoughts swirled around every possibility. Had Evelyn done something? Had Dorian locked him out?
