The council chamber was filled with the low hum of discussion, maps spread across the long oak table as I stood between two Alphas, outlining the water distribution plan we had been working on for months. A plan that once felt like a burden, another impossible weight on my shoulders—was finally beginning to take shape. And for the first time in what felt like forever, I didn’t feel suffocated by it.
Because she was there.
