Chapter 1453

Solomon took a drag of his cigarette, blowing the smoke in her face with a smirk. "Ines, funny how I didn't know you were single." Ines was taken aback, realizing he had just overheard her conversation with Shawn. Seeing Ines silent, Solomon pinched her chin with a smirk. "Cat got your tongue?" He had thought she was busy with work, but she was out on a blind date. She had even told others she was single. Did he mean nothing to her? Ines quieted down after being unable to break free, her cold gaze locking onto him. "Solomon, we've broken up." Solomon chuckled. "Is that so? When did that happen? I wasn't aware." In the past two years, they occasionally argued, leading to talk about breaking up, but she always returned to him after a couple of days. She was obedient and beautiful, and they were compatible in bed. He was more than willing to appease her whenever she threw a tantrum. Solomon had grown accustomed to having her around and had never considered parting ways with her. At least, not for now. Ines calmly stated, "I messaged you last week." She had sent him a breakup message, but he had not replied. In this age of constant connectivity, not responding to a message was itself a message. "Is that so?" Solomon raised an eyebrow, taking out his phone to check. He had two phones, one for personal use and one for work. Ines' message was on his personal phone, which he rarely used recently due to his busy schedule. Seeing him pull out his phone, Ines noticed her message from last week was still unread. Ines' heart sank. He was always like this. He would come to her when he remembered her, acting like a pair of passionate lovers. However, when he forgot about her, he could go months without seeing her, let alone messaging her. He rarely replied, even when she messaged him first. Ines used to think he must have seen her messages but was too busy to reply. Now she realized that he probably had not even bothered to look. Biting her lip tightly, Ines felt her heart turn ice-cold. At this moment, she was even more certain that leaving him was the right choice. Unaware of Ines' expression, Solomon clicked on her profile and saw the breakup message she had sent. [Let's break up.] There are no extra words, just three simple words. Solomon's gaze remained calm as he tossed his phone onto the table, looking at her. "You initiated the breakup; I didn't agree. So, you're still not single, got it?" Ines shook her head. "Even if you don't agree, I still want to break up!" Ines recalled that night a week ago when she was passing documents to the TV guest. He was in the elevator, arms wrapped around another woman, their flirtatious banter shamelessly disregarding the presence of others. As soon as they exited the elevator, they could not wait to kiss each other. Ines felt like her heart was crushed by snow, chilling her to the core. She had sat blankly in the living room that night, feeling numb all over. Only when she picked up her phone and sent him that breakup message did she feel warmth return to her body. Ines understood deep down that she and Solomon should have ended things long ago. It was her fault for clinging to something that did not belong to her.
