The unconscious team members, thankfully, had not suffered serious injuries. Their wounds were mostly superficial, and their exhaustion seemed to stem from mental strain rather than physical harm. Given the rapid recovery rate of zamudas, they would be back on their feet after a good night’s rest.
Relief washed over me as I reflected on my earlier decision to act boldly. Had I hesitated, the consequences could have been catastrophic.
“Thank you, Thelma,” Master Mary said, her tone carrying a rare weight of sincerity. “You saved everyone. I owe you an apology for doubting you earlier.”
“You don’t need to say that,” I replied, feeling a little uncomfortable under her earnest gaze. “We all worked together to destroy the human shadows. Without everyone’s cooperation, my efforts would have been futile.”
