Chapter 658 Dezi Won’t Have A Dad Anymore

Shaun had long guessed that Lindsey might go crazy when she received the news, but he did not expect her to be this crazy. When she heard that Shaun still had not found Zayn yet, Lindsey froze for a few seconds. Shaun could clearly see her eyes turn watery, but Lindsey held back her tears. In the next second, she suddenly let go of Shaun’s arm and turned towards the port where the fire had just been extinguished. Shaun only heard Lindsey’s resolute voice, "Then I'll find him." Shaun reached out to pull her back, but he failed to do so the first time. Lindsey's stride was big and she walked very fast. Shaun took a few steps to keep up with her, then reached out and pulled her back. He yelled, “Stop right there!” "Do you know how dangerous it is over there right now and you wanna look for him? Are you crazy?! Just stay here!" Shaun’s eyes were stern as he looked at Lindsey. However, Lindsey seemed to have not heard Shaun's words. She stubbornly flung his hand away and walked forward again. She was still wearing her pajamas and a long sweater that exposed her slender calves in the night breeze. She looked very disheveled. Shaun saw that she did not stop and went forward to pull her back again. This time, he directly grabbed her with both hands and his tone was unconsciously heavier. "What's the use of you going?!" Lindsey did not speak and tried to break free from Shaun's grip, but she could not compete with the man's strength. She also did not know why she was so stubborn and struggled with all her might, trying to make Shaun let go of her. At this time, there was madness in Lindsey’s eyes. Shaun was kicked several times by her soft slippers and still did not let go. His anger surged and he yelled, "If he was fine, he would’ve come out long ago, so what's the use of you going in now?!" The woman who had been struggling desperately suddenly stopped moving, like a puppet with a broken thread. She froze and looked up at Shaun. "Then what can I do?" Lindsey suddenly shouted. Her hysterical voice was tinged with despair and grief. She stopped moving, but she was looking unblinkingly at Shaun. "What can I do?" As she said this, a tear suddenly streamed down her face. Lindsey turned her head away and murmured, "I want to find him." Probably because she could not hold back anymore, she wailed and choked. “Before Dezi went to bed, I promised him that he’ll only have one dad!” "If we can't find him, then Dezi won't have a dad anymore!" Lindsey's voice cracked and she could not stop sobbing. Shaun suddenly loosened his grip on her. That was because he saw that the woman in front of him covered her face with her hands and squatted down, curling herself into a ball. "I just promised him..." Lindsey's sobs were suppressed and incredibly sad probably because she was in despair. Shaun just closed his eyes and clenched his fists. Dawn seemed to have arrived earlier at the beach compared to other places. There was a sliver of light in the horizon that stretched the two people’s shadows at the port. The man was standing, and the woman was crouching on the ground crying. Shaun wanted to reach out and pull Lindsey up several times, but he never managed to. ‘It’s better if she cries it all out,’ Shaun thought to himself. They stood there for what seemed like a long time. Shaun was worried that Lindsey would suddenly faint from crying like this. At the same time, he looked around anxiously at the port not far away. Suddenly, a few people appeared in his sight. That person had just gotten out of the car. He looked stern and had a face that Shaun hated the most. However, at this moment, when Shaun saw this face, he suddenly felt a kind of indescribable joy. The man was followed by several other people who were all familiar faces to Shaun. The man swept a glance around like a king inspecting his own territory. When he saw Shaun and Lindsey, he paused in his footsteps, then he suddenly changed his direction midway and came towards them. Shaun felt incredulous, but at the same time, he knew that this was Zayn’s shrewd style. He reached out and nudged Lindsey, who was still squatting on the ground. "Hey, Linds, stop crying!" However, Lindsey was now completely immersed in her own world that she did not hear what Shaun was saying. Shaun had to reach out and take her by the shoulders to bring her up, then said, "Look, stop crying and look over there! He’s fine! Silly girl...don't cry..." His voice was not very soft. Lindsey thought she had misheard until she opened her bleary eyes and looked right into a pair of eyes that seemed like stars. Zayn had already walked over to the two of them. He swept a contemptuous glance at Shaun’s hands that were holding Lindsey, then took out a tissue from his pocket and very naturally pulled Lindsey over from Shaun's hand into his arms. He then gently helped Lindsey to wipe away the tears on her face. "What's wrong? Why are you crying like this?" The man's voice carried a rare gentleness and patience. Lindsey froze and looked at him like she was stupefied. Suddenly, Lindsey reached out and hugged Zayn's neck. She ignored the presence of others and her voice choked. "Zayn...you're okay...you're really okay!" As she said this, she started crying again. Her tears fell on Zayn’s chest. “You *sshole! You scared the shit out of me...I thought that Dezi lost his dad...” By the end of the sentence, Lindsey's voice cracked. Probably due to the clear despair in her voice, Zayn finally understood what had happened. The heartache in his eyes surfaced in the dawn light, and he clenched the used tissue in his hand tightly. Zayn raised his hand and patted Lindsey on the back while he slowly hugged her tighter with his other arm. "I'm fine...I'm an *sshole...don't cry, okay? This was all a setup...I'm here now..." He tenderly whispered in Lindsey's ear. He felt the petite woman in his arms trembling lightly, and felt his heart clench and ache so much. He never thought that Lindsey would be this upset, nor did he think that Lindsey would come here to find him despite everything. He thought he had broken her heart and that she would never give him a chance again. The last time he saw her, she was with Arthur. It was an eyesore to him, but Zayn forced himself not to look or pay any attention to them. ‘She should have someone beside her,’ Zayn told himself. He had let her down so much that any amount of affection and feelings would not be able to offset it. Thus, he stayed away and wanted to end it all. If he could not stay with her in the end, the last thing he could do was make her a little less sad. Thinking of this, Zayn's eyes suddenly flashed with self-restraint and forbearance.
