Chapter 657 Something Happened To Zayn
Although Dezi was unhappy about the thought of having a new dad, he still looked at Lindsey and explained his logic, "Mommy, you asked me if I wanted to have another sibling, but you’re not together with Daddy, so if you wanna give me a little brother or sister, it means you’ll give me a new dad too."
After Dezi said that, he pouted and did not look at Lindsey anymore. Although he did not say it, he clearly felt aggrieved.
Lindsey simply wanted to laugh. She reflected on how Dezi would have such thoughts. ‘Is it from what he watched on TV?’
Even so, there was nothing wrong with Dezi’s logic upon careful consideration.
Lindsey reached out and tapped Dezi's little nose, then laughed and said, "What kinda nonsense are you thinking about? What new dad, little brat? Your mother is single. Besides, you’ll only have one dad." This sounded like a promise. Lindsey paused for a moment and continued, "Mommy won’t give you a younger brother or sister. I’m just asking casually, so don’t overthink it."
Dezi did not think that he was overthinking things, but when he heard Lindsey say that he would not have a new dad, he was happy again and could not care less about defending himself.
He thought, ‘I still want a younger sibling though…’
Lindsey originally only wanted to see what Dezi’s attitude was towards Arthur. After finding out Dezi’s thoughts, she squashed this idea. However, she probably did not expect that Dezi only thought about having a younger sibling and did not even think about his half-brother who appeared out of nowhere.
When Soren was away, Sieben did not want to go home, so she stayed at Lindsey's house.
Lindsey put Dezi to sleep before checking on Sieben, but she found that Sieben was not sleeping and was playing games on her phone.
She knocked on the door and pretended to be a strict parent. "Young lady, what time is it? Why are you still awake?"
Sieben did not even lift her head and said, “I’m almost done with this level! Why are you in a rush?”
Lindsey laughed heartily and said, "I’m not in a hurry."
She watched as Sieben finished the game and put aside her phone. Only then did she close the door to Sieben’s room and went back to her bedroom.
Lindsey yawned and turned off the lights, then laid in bed. The sleepiness she felt just now suddenly seemed to disappear and she could not fall asleep after a while.
She just felt some uneasiness in her heart, but she did not know what was the cause, so she just blamed it on her overthinking the past few days.
"No wonder Aunt Wendy’s always worried." Lindsey laughed at herself. "I really think too much."
With this thought in mind, it took Lindsey a long time before she managed to fall asleep. Shortly after she fell asleep, something was going on at the largest port in Atlantic City.
A man was standing in the shadows. The night sea breeze blew the hem of the man's jacket and the air was filled with the salty smell of seawater.
He saw that not far away, a supplies ship was slowly docking at the port. His eyes had a creepy glow, like an animal in the night.
After personally watching the ship dock, Zayn appeared with his people. The man raised his hand and touched the encrypted communication device in his ear and said in a deep voice, "The ship has docked. They took the bait."
The man then raised his hand to turn off the communication device. The corner of his jacket lifted and he quickly disappeared into the empty darkness.
After ten minutes of peace at the port which did not seem any different from the past, there was an explosion. The flames rose high into the sky and tinted the sky red.
Lindsey received the news the next morning. Before the sky was bright, Lindsey suddenly woke up from her dream.
She sat up at once. Her chest was still heaving, which meant that the scene in her dream was not very pleasant.
After settling down, Lindsey could not recall what happened in the dream, but that long-lasting feeling of anxiety affected her mood.
The sky outside the window was gray and not bright yet. Lindsey took her phone and looked at the time. 5:42 am.
‘So early!’
Lindsey was a bit surprised. She had not jolted awake in a long time, and she had not woken up this early in a long time.
She was about to lie down and go back to sleep, but suddenly, the phone she had just put down vibrated non-stop.
Lindsey was truly shocked. She did not know why her heart was suddenly beating so fast. Her hand even trembled a little, which almost made her phone fall to the ground.
‘It’s still so early...who could it be?’
Lindsey settled her mind and found that it was a call from Shaun. Her anxiety suddenly reached its peak. ‘Why is Shaun calling at this hour?’
Her fingers trembled as she pressed the answer button before the last ring. Lindsey's voice was shaky as she said, "Hello, brother?"
If it was any other time, she might not have such a huge reaction.
However, because of the nightmare earlier, Lindsey was extra fidgety. Any small movement made her nerves tense up.
"Linds, something happened." Shaun's voice did not sound tired at all. It was cold and deep, with gravity and disbelief.
Lindsey did not speak and her heart was beating faster. Shaun said, "Something happened to Zayn."
Half an hour later.
Atlantic City Port.
Before the car came to a full stop, Lindsey jumped out, which scared the driver, but Lindsey could not care less about that at the moment.
She saw Shaun standing against the light from afar, then ran towards him quickly.
"Brother!" Lindsey's voice was a little broken. When she got to Shaun, her legs suddenly went limp, which made her stumble. She almost fell flat to the ground.
Luckily, Shaun took two steps forward to catch her so that Lindsey did not fall.
Lindsey stood up and could not care less about herself. She clutched Shaun’s sleeve with one hand and her tone was anxious and panicky as she said, “How is it? Where is he? Did you manage to find him?”
Shaun looked at Lindsey’s eyes that were filled with despair and a sliver of hope. He said with difficulty, “Not yet.”
He had only learned of this a while ago and was also taken aback.
Apparently, Zayn had a ship that docked that night and they found prohibited items on it. There were even police at the siege, which turned violent, and many were dead. In the end, half of the port was engulfed in flames, and they did not know who set the fire.
Before that ship docked, someone saw that Zayn had gone into the port.
This all happened just a few hours ago. When Shaun first received this news, he instructed his people to block all media and made a lot of preparations. Finally, he chose to notify Lindsey.
