Chapter 653 Did Not Go As Plan
After finishing her glass of water, Lindsey stood up. "I'll go check on Sieben."
In the bedroom, Sieben was probably uncomfortable with the fever, so she fell asleep in a short while, but she was not sound asleep. Her mouth was murmuring from time to time, and one of her legs was hugging the quilt as she squirmed around restlessly.
Before Lindsey had time to move, Soren had already reached out and helped Sieben to put her leg back under the covers while his other hand gently stroked the top of her head to ease her restlessness.
Lindsey sat down on the other side of the bed and looked at Sieben's pale pink cheeks. She felt a little worried again. "Did she take her medicine? How long has the fever been going on?"
"More than four hours now," Soren replied to Lindsey, but his eyes were fixated on Sieben's face. "She took some medicine earlier. The doctor said it isn’t serious and it’ll subside soon."
Lindsey felt at ease with Soren taking care of Sieben. After sitting for a while, Lindsey felt that she did not have to stay any longer.
After such a misunderstanding, although Lindsey kept it to herself, she still felt a little embarrassed that she had made such a mess today. After a few words of concern, Lindsey left.
During dinner, Lindsey went back upstairs again with a few light dishes and soup that Mrs. Wendy specially made for Sieben. Her fever had already subsided by then.
When Sieben saw Lindsey coming up with delicious food, she was so happy that she almost jumped up from the bed, but she accidentally touched a certain part of her body that was bruised. She furrowed her brows and glared at Soren.
Soren touched his nose and asked in a soft voice, "Do you want another jacket? Your pajamas are quite thin."
Sieben scrunched her nose and said reluctantly, "No way! It’s summer and I’m already wearing long-sleeves."
She was covered in sweat and did not even shower yet. If she wore a jacket, she would probably sweat even more.
Soren looked at her helplessly and dotingly, then finally got up and closed the half-open window.
Lindsey wanted to laugh and found a place to put down the food. She touched Sieben's forehead to check her temperature. "Your fever has gone down."
Sieben had already stretched her neck and sniffed around. "It smells so good! What did Aunt Wendy make today?"
"It's all for you." Lindsey smiled and looked at her with a gentle face. "Get up and eat."
Sieben ate a lot probably because she did not eat much at noon.
The two of them had not seen much of each other in the past few days. After eating, Soren went to clear the plates while Lindsey and Sieben were chatting and watching a recent popular reality show.
Suddenly, Sieben sneakily glanced at the kitchen. Seeing that Soren had no intention of coming out for the time being, she abruptly leaned into Lindsey’s ear and whispered, "Lindsey, did anyone come to see you in the past two days?"
Lindsey jerked her head up and looked at her. Her eyes changed slightly, but she did not say anything.
Sieben saw Lindsey’s reaction and looked thoughtful, then said somewhat helplessly, "He really went to look for you..."
Lindsey was a little confused and asked, "You knew someone would be looking for me?"
"I..." Sieben scratched her head, then self-loathingly covered her face. "Ugh...it’s a long story...what did he say?"
Lindsey told Sieben what Murray said earlier and could not help but ask, "Is he really the senior that you told me about?"
Sieben listened to Lindsey's description of the man's appearance and nodded. "I think so."
"Then what about the one in the park last time?" Lindsey remembered that the one last time also seemed to be Sieben's senior, but these two people looked different.
Sieben blinked. "He knows how to disguise his original look."
‘No wonder...sounds like something on TV!’
"It seems like he doesn't want you to go to Germany either." Lindsey looked at Sieben and said in a gentle voice.
Sieben's eyes darkened. The effect triggered by the words just now seemed to surge up now. She hung her head and did not speak.
Lindsey held Sieben’s cold hands and asked, "Did Soren find out about your plans? Your senior couldn't find you, so he found me instead?"
Hearing her mentioning Soren, Sieben subconsciously glanced in the direction of the kitchen, but she shook her head. "He doesn’t know."
Perhaps Soren sensed something. After washing the dishes, he came out of the kitchen.
Seeing the two ladies talking, Soren came over and folded his sleeves. He looked a little anxious as he looked at Sieben. "The President wants me to go over, so I’ll be gone for a while and will be back soon."
After saying that, he still felt uneasy. He looked at Lindsey and said, "Madam, please take care of Sieben for a while. I'll be back soon."
He seemed to be worried about Sieben and did not look unusual. He did not look like he was imprisoning Sieben at all.
After Soren left, Lindsey squinted at Sieben. "Tell me, what’s going on? How did your senior think that Soren’s imprisoning you?"
Sieben let out a soft sigh and felt that this was probably fate.
"I promised my brother that I’d go to Germany with him today." Sieben hung her head, feeling that her words might trigger Lindsey's wrath. She even scooted to the side and looked guilty. "The flight was at 9:00 am today."
"Then you had a fever, so you missed your flight?" Lindsey asked probingly.
At the mention of this, Sieben blushed. Sieben thought that she had kept this under wraps and had not exposed anything to Soren. However, probably because of the reluctance in her heart, she always felt that she would regret it if she did not do something.
Since she could not say goodbye to Soren frankly, she wanted to act recklessly in front of Soren for the last time.
However, she did not expect that she would get a fever this morning before dawn when she rarely got sick.
When she woke up, the plane had already flown over the Atlantic Ocean.
Lindsey also did not expect the reason to be so romantic and bizarre. She thought about it for a moment and said, "Sieben, if you didn’t get a fever, would you really leave Soren?"
The girl next to her was silent for a long time. Her eyes were more mature than usual. In the end, she shook her head and bit her lower lip. "I don't know..."
It was hard to say as many things were decided in the spur of a moment. She was used to Soren being around. He had become a necessity to her, just like food and water.
Soren was different from anyone she knew. Most people were either afraid of her or hated her. Some even wanted to hurt her. Only Soren, Lindsey, and Mrs. Wendy genuinely took care of her, liked her, and made her realize what home felt like.
Sieben knew that she was reluctant to let go of them.
