Chapter 647 The Show Can Only Start With An Audience
Lindsey looked at the police officers calmly and did not speak.
The police officer put away her badge and said, "Are you Ms. Juhl? We’ve received a report that you’re involved in a civil case. Please cooperate with our investigation."
Lindsey’s expression remained unchanged. She turned to close the office door behind her and said cooperatively, "Let's go."
The two police officers on this case did not expect her to be so calm and looked at Lindsey strangely.
Since Lindsey was a docile suspect, they did not handcuff her, but with two police officers standing next to her, this scene was too eye-catching.
Lindsey managed to attract her colleagues' attention. Her stance was frank and her back was slightly tense, but she did not look anxious.
When Lindsey saw that Lydia came out of her office because of the commotion, she even nodded at Lydia and did not look like she was worried about what would happen.
After Lindsey was brought downstairs and left in a police car, the onlooking colleagues exploded at once.
A flat female voice came through, shattering the silence in the office. "What?! Did Lindsey really do it?"
Another voice rang out just after hers and said, "I don't know if it's really her, but since the police are involved this time, I think that it’s 80% true."
"But why would Lindsey steal from our company and give it to S.P. Corporation? What’s her motive?"
No one could answer this. They had been in this office for so long and had never seen someone being escorted out by the police. Some were still bewildered that such a scene that usually appeared on TV would appear in real life.
At this time, a woman mysteriously joined the crowd and whispered, "I heard that Jess Cohen, Lindsey’s assistant that got fired, did something illegal and was arrested. The company didn’t want to get implicated, which is why they came up with an excuse to fire her."
Her voice was very low. As soon as she said that, the room was in an uproar.
After all, Lindsey was just taken away by the police. If her assistant was arrested by the police before, perhaps there was some kind of connection between these two events. In a moment, everyone began to speculate about it.
By the time the discussion in the office was over, Lindsey was already sitting in the interrogation room at the police station.
Lindsey being escorted out of the office by the police did not just attract the attention of Hemera’s employees, a few paparazzi hiding outside the Hemera office also saw it clearly.
She was not a celebrity or public figure, but she used to be married to a man who was more popular than movie stars. When the paparazzi got wind of this, they wanted to get the latest news and perhaps could increase their tabloid’s sales volume.
Due to this, Lindsey being taken away by the police was soon known to many people in Atlantic City.
"Name?" The police officer sitting across the table asked in a deep voice as he looked at Lindsey's lightly made-up straight face.
Lindsey answered, "Lindsey Juhl."
"Age?"
......
No matter what they asked, Lindsey was very cooperative. She first gave them some basic information such as her name and age, then when they asked about the loss of Hemera’s company secrets, Lindsey became less cooperative.
She just answered “I don’t know” or “it’s not me” to any questions that might convict her of the crime.
At the end of the interrogation, the police officer felt like ripping his hair out. He shouted at Lindsey in exasperation. "We found records of those emails on your computer, so who else could it be if not you?"
Lindsey raised her eyebrows and looked at the officer’s serious face. She licked the corner of her lips and said, “I said that I didn’t do it. As to why those emails appeared on my computer, isn’t this your job to find out?”
She did not mean to provoke them, but she was already annoyed by getting asked this question.
The two police officers saw that Lindsey was insistent and took a deep breath. The one who was in charge of questioning Lindsey said to his companion, "Let's go and see what's going on over there."
After that, the two officers went out, and Lindsey was left alone in the interrogation room.
She looked around and thought that this interrogation room looked similar to what was on TV. Lindsey never thought that one day, she would get to sit here and get questioned by the police.
This was a totally new experience.
Lindsey knew that the two police officers were talking about her old acquaintance when they said they were going to check out another side. It was Ann, who she met in front of the police station last time.
After all, they were the main characters and they could only start this show with an audience.
As she expected, Ann was also brought to the police station by the two police officers.
Ann had a hunch since yesterday when she saw the news that the police would come to her door sooner or later. Thus, when the police approached her, Ann's composure was no less than Lindsey’s. She was not just calm, but even vaguely arrogant.
When she was brought to the interrogation room, Ann was even more uncooperative.
In comparison, Lindsey's attitude was much better.
"I said that I don't know. If you have any questions, please direct them to my lawyer. My company did not plagiarize other company’s trade secrets. You should produce evidence of your accusations, otherwise, I’ll sue you!"
Ann’s words were harsh and she was just shy of standing up and pointing her finger at the police officers for not doing their job well because they just interrogated her according to some hearsay.
The two police officers who came out of Lindsey's interrogation room saw Ann like this and suddenly felt that Lindsey was not that much of a headache in comparison.
They looked at the interrogation room for a while and turned to continue their work, but just as they left, they were called back by a female police officer who walked towards them in a hurry.
"Captain Simon! Whitney!" The female police officer walked over to the two people. "Just now, Hemera sent over their latest internal investigation results. Take a look."
The older police officer, Captain Simon, heard this and was displeased. "This is simply nonsense! Their company didn’t make a prompt report and only thought of covering this up internally. It’s simply ridiculous!"
The police officer smiled and did not say anything. She just handed over the document in her hand to Captain Simon and said, "Take a look first."
Captain Soren looked irritated as he took over the document. He skimmed through it and saw that it was a test report on Lindsey’s computer that Hemera handed over as evidence.
The report showed that Lindsey's computer had been hacked, but the hacker did not directly target Lindsey's computer first. The hacker first broke Hemera’s internal firewall and deciphered Lindsey's password, then logged into Lindsey's account.
