Chapter 635 She Did Not Want To Resign To Her Fate
Lindsey managed to hail a cab and jumped into it quickly.
In order to cover up what she just said to Arthur, Lindsey got into the car and asked the driver to make a long detour before going back to Opal Suites.
She felt that her avoidance was probably weird to others, but other reasons aside, Lindsey did not like being alone with Arthur, let alone sitting in the same car with him.
The occasional forwardness in Arthur's light brown eyes made Lindsey feel very uncomfortable, so she subconsciously wanted to avoid it.
Lindsey arrived home late these days. The window in Soren and Sieben's bedroom had been repaired and it looked as good as new as if last night’s incident never happened.
She rarely saw Sieben lately and did not expect to see her sitting in the living room playing with Dezi when she came home today.
After last night’s incident, Sieben only vaguely told Lindsey what happened. Even so, Lindsey was still scared and felt uneasy.
"Is Soren not home today?" Lindsey changed into her home slippers and walked to Sieben as she casually mentioned this.
Sieben shot the marble bead in her hand into the goal they set up on the floor, then glanced at Lindsey sideways with a glint under her eyes that Lindsey did not notice. “Yeah, he has some things to do and will be home later.”
Lindsey softly said, "Oh." This was not much of a surprise because there were always a few days within a month that Soren would be very busy. Sieben would then come downstairs and keep Mrs. Wendy company.
After a long day of work, Lindsey was exhausted, so after greeting Sieben, she wanted to take a shower and relax. Just as Lindsey was about to get up, Sieben, who was squatting on the floor, pulled the hem of Lindsey's shirt.
Mrs. Wendy was in the kitchen preparing a snack for Lindsey, so there were only the two of them and Dezi in the living room. Dezi was concentrated on the marble beads on the floor looking a little distressed.
Dezi was not good at playing this game and he was never as good as Sieben.
Lindsey paused in her movements and lowered her eyes to look at Sieben with puzzled eyes like she was asking, "What's wrong?"
Sieben jumped up with some force and stood eye to eye with Lindsey. Her gaze was fervent with a reckless madness in them like fire and ice were colliding.
"Lindsey, I'm planning to go to Germany," Sieben slowly said these words, which managed to freeze Lindsey’s body and thoughts in place.
Lindsey did not know much about the grudge between Sieben and the Moeller family. She only had a general overview and did not have any details to imagine what kind of grudge they had.
After being stunned for a few seconds, Lindsey asked, "Why are you going there?" Her voice was gentle with pure confusion and no other excess emotion.
For the first time, Sieben did not show her usual lively side in front of Lindsey. Her voice was deep as she said, "I’m going back to get my revenge."
Lindsey was stunned and grabbed Sieben’s hand. That was when she realized that Sieben’s hand was as cold as ice. She subconsciously tightened Sieben’s hand and tried to warm it up. “What did you say?”
She really did not understand that after so many years, who else did Sieben want to take her "revenge" on.
The Shadow had fallen apart with Old Master Moeller’s sudden death. Terence Moeller was missing and Jared Moeller was just looking for trouble on all sides, so why would Sieben want to get involved in this mess?
Sieben did not go into any details when she spoke to Lindsey. Her eyes were cold like never before. She said, “What happened back then wasn’t an accident. Someone did it on purpose, and I must get my revenge."
She did not look at Lindsey and only stared intently into the void, with a touch of viciousness in her eyes. "Soren won’t let me go, so Lindsey, please help me to calm him down while I’m away. I'll be back soon."
Lindsey’s face was completely cold this time. "You wanna go alone?"
Sieben did not speak, but her silence was the best answer.
Lindsey's expression suddenly became stern as she looked at Sieben with undisguised anger. "What makes you think that I will agree if Soren doesn’t? Why should I help you hide it from him?"
Probably because Lindsey’s reaction was too abrupt, Sieben was a little dumbfounded. She blinked her large eyes like a naive child. "Lindsey, if you don't help me, who else can?"
After that, Sieben’s tone returned to normal as she said, “I must get my revenge.”
Lindsey looked at Sieben and thought that she saw tears in her eyes.
However, Sieben’s expression was clearly tough with a desperate determination and bloodthirst that a normal person would not have.
Lindsey was frightened by the look on Sieben’s face, but she was still unwilling to compromise. "No, don’t even think about it. I won’t help you to hide this from Soren and I won’t let you go!"
"Lindsey!" Sieben's voice went a pitch higher.
Sieben could have left secretly without telling anyone, but this idea only spun in her mind for a few minutes. In the end, she could not put this thought into action.
She used to be a lone wolf who wandered around by herself. She only knew what was survival and did not know any human feelings.
One day, Sieben hid in a coffin to avoid the trouble awaiting her and stowed away to a country she had never set foot in but had heard of many times through the descriptions of others. She then met a group of people who were of vital importance to her.
From then on, Sieben slowly forgot the endless nights of snow and what it felt like to wander around alone in the cold. Her lonely and dark life suddenly seemed to have brightened with hopes of the future. She was no longer the person who would have hid in the dark and waited for the opportunity to strike like a poisonous viper.
All of the warmth she felt made her heart greedy, but what was bound to happen would eventually come.
Sieben pressed her lips and clenched her teeth for a while. Her voice broke as she showed her vulnerability and pleaded. "I must go..."
She said in a murmur.
Lindsey gripped that hand tightly in her palm and brought her into the bedroom. Her eyes were fixed on Sieben as she said, "Give me a reason that can convince me otherwise."
Sieben pursed her lips and did not answer.
She did not know if this was her fate. Sieben felt that she should have hated this word. If there really was fate in this world, why did she grow up without parents? How was she trained to be a cold-blooded killer? Other kids had parents and someone to love them, so why not her?
Why did fate give her such an overbearing and ruthless life? Why did she have to accept it?
Sieben did not want to resign to her fate!
