Chapter 632 It Won’t Happen Again
Soren’s fingers climbed up to the top of Sieben’s head very naturally and gently stroked it. "Don't be scared, it's all in the past now. It won’t happen again."
Sieben nodded. ‘Yeah, it won't...because I have you now.’
At some point, a ray of dawn came through the curtains. With their bedroom window shattered, Soren and Sieben slept in the guest bedroom. They laid on the bed for a long time without speaking. Sieben had already learned to be at peace with her past, so her breathing soon became light and rhythmic. Soren listened to her light breathing and slowly sank into a deep sleep.
The day just began for many people. Small diners and breakfast food trucks outside the neighborhood started to set up their stores while Soren and Sieben hugged each other to sleep, isolated from the noise outside.
After the eventful night, Lindsey slept until mid-morning before waking up.
When Lindsey first woke up, she was usually in a daze for a few minutes. She rubbed her temples and felt more awake before she struggled to get out of bed.
She put on her slippers, and without looking at the time, she knew it was already late. She casually tied her hair into a messy bun to feel a little more refreshed, then opened the door to her room. Her sleepiness still had not yet completely dispersed, so Lindsey could not resist opening her mouth and yawning.
The sound of the bedroom door opening was overshadowed by her yawn, which was very clear to the few people in the living room.
Her eyes were watery. After rubbing her eyes, Lindsey walked out of her room without taking a closer look.
"Aunt Wendy...why didn't you wake me up?" Lindsey’s voice was still a little hoarse from her sleep. Only after she finished speaking did she fully open her eyes.
After looking at the scene in front of her, Lindsey was horrified and almost screamed, but before she could, a suit jacket was thrown at her face, which stopped her from screaming.
"What..." Lindsey wanted to say something and subconsciously wanted to pull the jacket from her head.
However, her words were interrupted by the man's low voice next to her. At the same time, Lindsey's hands were pressed from behind.
The man's force was gentle but had an irrefutable dominance as he held Lindsey's bare arms. That delicate touch made his heart surge with anger and possessiveness.
Zayn’s face was glum as he pushed Lindsey back into the bedroom that she had just walked out of. “Go back in and change.”
Lindsey froze for a moment. She had long forgotten that Zayn stayed the night. In an instant, she was already pushed into the bedroom and the bedroom door closed behind her.
"Zayn Guggenheim! What are you doing?!" Lindsey broke away from his grip and pried the suit jacket off her head. She finally came back to her senses from the shock of seeing the person just now. "No, wait...why is Arthur in my house?"
Zayn's face darkened as he viciously said, "How would I know?"
His gaze lingered on Lindsey's bare arms and legs for a moment. Seeing that Lindsey was still oblivious, he yelled at her. "Didn’t I ask you to get changed last night? What are you wearing?"
Lindsey was mad and confused that Zayn yelled at her not long after she woke up. She heard his words and looked at her clothes, which was the same nightgown she wore last night. Normally, she would not feel anything wearing this at home, but it was indeed inappropriate to expose everything to a man she did not know very well.
Last night, Lindsey just pulled on a sweater and sweatpants over her nightgown to cover up. When she went to bed, she habitually removed them because it was uncomfortable. This morning when she woke up, she had completely forgotten that Zayn stayed over, not to mention seeing an unexpected guest in her house.
After Zayn said that, he took a good look at Lindsey, then reached out to tug on his shirt collar with a fierce look on his face probably because he was exasperated. Lindsey thought he was going to hit her, so she subconsciously took a step back and muttered in her defense, “I...I forgot.”
Zayn paused for a moment after he heard that and did not do anything to her. He just turned and walked out of the room without hesitation.
The only thing Lindsey thought of was, ‘What the hell is going on?!’
Why would Arthur be in her house and even sat with Zayn?
Lindsey got dressed while she felt a headache brewing.
On the other hand, after Zayn went out of Lindsey’s room, he met Arthur's eyes that were filled with mockery.
Arthur’s light-blonde hair was very shiny and slightly wavy. His fair complexion and that haughty vibe he exuded made Zayn feel like punching him.
Zayn raised his chin slightly and had an unconscious aloofness as he said, "Now that you’ve seen her, you can leave."
Arthur’s arm was on the sofa as he lightly tapped his fingers. His eyes had such mockery that revealed his thoughts.
He raised his eyebrows and looked at Zayn. "Mr. Guggenheim, since when did you become the owner of this house and can evict guests on behalf of Lindsey?"
The atmosphere between the two men was tense. Mrs. Wendy heard the commotion while she was in the kitchen and poked her head out. Her scalp went numb at the scene in front of her.
Mrs. Wendy got up early in the morning to buy some groceries from the farmer’s market nearby. Just when she opened the door, she saw Arthur standing in the doorway, which startled her.
She did not know how long he had been standing there. When Arthur saw her, he bowed his head slightly as a sign of respect and said, "Excuse me, I heard that there’s an incident here last night, so I came to check it out."
Arthur was polite, but Mrs. Wendy did not let down her guard and scrutinized him. Her eyes skimmed over his perfectly ironed clothes and landed on his eyes. "How did you know that something happened last night?"
He answered politely, "I live here now. Last night, I came back late, so the people downstairs told me what happened."
Mrs. Wendy took a closer look at Arthur this time. Although he was immaculate and neatly dressed, and he had such a noble temperament, his eyes were clearly exhausted.
It seemed that he did not get a wink of sleep. When he found out that something happened to them, he even rushed over to check it out. Mrs. Wendy suddenly felt a little shocked. ‘He didn’t sleep all night and rushed over the second he heard something happened all because of Dezi?’
Just as she was wondering, Arthur asked, "Are Lindsey and Aksel okay?" He already knew that they were fine, but he still wanted to get a definite answer from someone.
Mrs. Wendy nodded somewhat woodenly. "Yes, they’re fine, just a little scared. They’re not awake yet."
She could hear the strong concern in Arthur's voice, and for some reason, Mrs. Wendy let down her guard and stepped back to make way for him. She politely said, "Come in first and have a seat. Make yourself at home."
At this time, a lazy male voice suddenly came from behind her. "Aunt Wendy, who is it?"
