Chapter 190 Loving Me And Loving Me More
Zayn carefully put Lindsey on the bed and patiently coaxed her before she finally settled down. He then sat down on the carpet next to the bed.
After some thought, he took a set of pajamas from the closet and helped Lindsey change into it so that she could sleep more comfortably.
The person on the bed just let him turn her around and was obedient.
She was so well-behaved.
When Zayn raised his head, he met Lindsey's round eyes, but those eyes were a bit wandering. It was obvious that her body was awake, but her mind was still confused.
Lindsey looked at the man in front of her with a somewhat strange expression. "Are you a dog?"
Zayn thought she would say something, but it turned out to be this. His voice was deep as he looked at Lindsey with dark eyes. “If I don’t bite you, you’ll never learn.”
Lindsey could not digest those words and just stared at Zayn for a long time. Suddenly, she leaned forward.
Zayn did not dodge and the next thing he knew, Lindsey bit him on the chin. He felt the pain within a few seconds.
Lindsey bit him for a while and saw that Zayn did not have any reaction, so she loosened her grip grudgingly. She then touched the mark on Zayn's chin and revealed a satisfied smile before lying back on the bed.
"You're the dog," Zayn said in a low voice after a long time.
He force-fed Lindsey the hangover tea, which helped with her headache. Lindsey made a fuss for a while and finally fell asleep.
Zayn sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her sleeping face. Only then did he have time to think about why Lindsey would be drunk.
Was it because the scandal he deliberately created over the past few days finally took effect?
Did this mean that Lindsey’s heart was not as tough as her mouth? But why did she refuse to admit it?
This knowledge did not bring Zayn much joy. Instead, it made his heart sink even more.
He had to force her like this before she was willing to reveal that little bit of concern for him, so what was he to her?
His heart that had just softened abruptly became cold and hard again.
"Lindsey Juhl, you only have two options, loving me and loving me more. There’s no third option." The man leaned in close to the ear of the unconscious woman on the bed and did not hide his thoughts.
When Lindsey woke up, Zayn was long gone and there was no trace of him left in the room. Lindsey had a splitting headache from her hangover. She thought that Allie had sent her back until she heard from Mrs. Wendy at lunchtime that Zayn had carried her back.
"Zayn, that kid...he left before dawn. Is he really that busy at the office?"
Lindsey silently drank the clam chowder and did not say anything for a while. Thinking of Zayn's scandals during this time, she suddenly felt a blockage in her throat and could not finish her soup.
"Aunt Wendy, today's soup seems a little fishy." She put the bowl down. She thought that the soup was a little too fishy, which made her feel like throwing up.
"It shouldn’t be." Mrs. Wendy picked up Lindsey's bowl and sniffed it. "It's exactly the same as usual. I know you don't like fish, so I only added fresh clams and lobster just the way you like it. How could it be fishy?"
After she said that, Mrs. Wendy looked at the old man and asked, "Old Master, what do you think of the soup?"
The old man had not taken a sip of the soup yet. When he heard this, he gently took a sip, then raised his head and said, "Nope, I don’t think it’s fishy."
"Maybe my nose is just a little sensitive these past two days." Lindsey smiled, but she did not touch the bowl of soup again because of the fishy smell.
Mrs. Wendy purposely made this hearty soup that was great nourishment for both Lindsey and the old man. The old man ended up drinking more than his usual portion when Lindsey stopped drinking it.
This was just a small episode that no one took to heart.
After eating, Lindsey brushed up on the day's entertainment news as usual. Unsurprisingly, she saw two photos of Zayn with an actress.
One of the photos showed the actress walking into the Denarius office. The other was a photo of Zayn going to the office before dawn. Somehow, the reporter managed to get such a close-up of his face that made the teeth marks on Zayn's chin look very obvious.
Lindsey took a closer look at it. She did not remember that those marks were her own handiwork. She only thought that it was from the actress, Lana Blue. For a moment, a familiar feeling arose that made her feel disgusted.
"Why do I feel so nauseous after a drink?" No wonder people said that alcohol would only make things worse.
Lindsey thought that it was the after-effects from drinking too much last night and took a sip of water to suppress that nausea, which made her a little more comfortable.
She tossed her phone aside and laid back on the bed. She was thinking bitterly that fate was a funny thing.
In such a massive city, she managed to meet these people which brought her good and bad memories before parting ways.
Lindsey stayed at home for half a month. Somehow, after that day of drunkenness, she became a lazybones of sorts. She just lazed around all day and could not bring herself to do anything. She could even fall asleep while holding a book for a few minutes.
Even so, Lindsey was not as happy these days.
The reason for that was none other than Zayn Guggenheim. During this half a month, Zayn no longer changed his companion like changing clothes. Perhaps because of that bite, that woman, Lana Blue, gained Zayn’s favor. Over these two weeks, the tabloids were dominated by pictures of this new couple.
No matter how bitter Lindsey felt, she still consoled herself that this was for the best.
However, her lazy, peaceful life was disrupted by an unexpected visitor.
"Young Madam, there’s a Ms. Blue looking for you outside." The servant did not enter the room and stood at the doorway as she respectfully relayed the message.
Lindsey was already conditioned to hearing the name “Lana Blue”. Instantly, an incredibly beautiful face popped up in her mind.
When she got downstairs with the maid following behind her, she saw the woman standing at the front gate. She could not help but feel breathless.
That was not because the woman was too beautiful, but because these days, Lindsey had gotten into the habit of seeing this face on the news and was taken aback from seeing her in person.
It was already late summer. Lana Blue was wearing a turquoise dress that revealed a pair of long fair legs. She looked even better in person than in the pictures.
