Chapter 220 Father Seems Really Old Now
I really hope things can stay like this between them, without any other trouble. A harmonious family is what everyone wants.
Martina walked out of the house at this moment. "The meal is ready. Let's go in and eat."
Bill struggled to stand up.
Charlotte saw this and went up to support him. "Dad, do you feel unwell?"
Bill shook his head, gesturing to Charlotte that he was fine.
"It's nothing serious. I'm just getting old, so my body has some minor issues."
But Charlotte frowned. This old man was still not taking care of himself like before. Even though he was struggling, he still wanted to hide his condition.
It seemed like she had to take him to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up when there was a chance. After all, he was getting older now, and she couldn't let him throw himself into work like before.
"If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can try handing some of those tasks over to Freya. She'll eventually take over anyway, sooner or later."
Bill thought of his youngest daughter again, feeling a bit guilty seeing how passionate she was about her career.
"People like to do what they're passionate about. Since he loves his job so much now, it's unlikely he'll let go. I can hold on for a while longer. You don't have to worry too much about me."
Just as they were about to go back inside for dinner, a visitor arrived at the house.
Charlotte turned to look and saw a young man, about her age. At first, she thought he might be someone from the company coming to report to her father.
But when he spoke, Charlotte felt a sense of familiarity, although she couldn't recall where she had seen him before.
"It seems like I came at the wrong time."
Bill smiled, "You came at just the right time. We were just about to eat. Haven't you eaten yet?"
"I haven't eaten yet."
Bill invited him in, "Then come in and have a meal with us. What are you holding?"
Brady suddenly remembered why he was here today.
"This? My dad picked some fruits from our garden at home and asked me to bring them to you."
Bill nodded, "I see."
Then, Bill turned to Charlotte and asked, "Do you remember him?"
Charlotte shook her head blankly. In her memory, there had never been such a handsome boy.
Brady looked at her shaking her head and smiled, "Sis, it's normal not to remember me. I've changed a lot since we were kids."
Charlotte was even more puzzled. Even if he had changed, she couldn't remember playing with any boy from her childhood.
After thinking for a while and not figuring it out, she had to ask, "Do I know him?"
"Of course you do. He's our neighbor, Brady."
Charlotte was very surprised. Back then, he was just a little kid, always following her around and calling her "sister."
Now, after so many years, he had grown so tall and handsome.
If she went out with him, she didn't know how many heads would turn.
This kid must have caused a lot of trouble for many girls!
"It's you! I was wondering who it was. I couldn't remember you for a while. You've changed a lot since you were a kid."
Brady used to be round-faced and cute when he was little, but who would have thought that he would grow into a six-foot-tall guy.
Charlotte had to look up at him now.
Brady smiled embarrassedly, "My dad originally wanted me to just drop off the stuff and leave, but since Uncle invited me, I'll stay for dinner."
For some reason, Charlotte felt that Brady's eyes lingered on her, but she didn't think much about it. He was already married, with two kids, and the third one was on the way.
Even if he had any other thoughts about her, it was highly unlikely...
Maybe it wasn't just Charlotte's imagination. When the four of them walked into the house and were about to have dinner, Brady kept trying to start conversations and chat with Charlotte.
After Luun arrived, the atmosphere became a bit awkward.
Perhaps everyone was cautious about his identity, so they couldn't speak freely anymore.
Charlotte also noticed this.
"You've been working hard all day today. Why did you still have time to come?"
Luun said in a caring tone, "I was afraid it would be inconvenient for you to go home alone, so I thought I'd come pick you up. And Rosen came with me."
