Chapter 138 Not Prepared
Charlotte looked at her, sighed deeply, and couldn't help but say, "But pregnancy itself is an unexpected thing. The child won't wait for you to be ready before coming."
Sophia thought for a moment, realizing the truth in Charlotte's words. Sitting in the passenger seat, she took several deep breaths.
When the two arrived at the hospital, they went for an ultrasound first. The report showed that Sophia was almost two months pregnant.
Both of them were shocked by the results.
They took the report and went to see the doctor again.
"The baby is developing well. Is this your first pregnancy?" the doctor asked.
Sophia nodded. "Yes."
The doctor said, "Then I'll prescribe some prenatal calcium and folic acid for you. I can see you have heavy dark circles under your eyes. Do you often stay up late?"
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed and nodded. "Sometimes work gets too busy, so I do stay up late."
"Now that you're pregnant, you need to pay attention to these issues. Don't overexert yourself, and avoid staying up late. If you have severe morning sickness, stick to bland foods and focus on balanced nutrition."
Sophia felt that what the doctor said was somewhat unfamiliar to her. She felt she shouldn't be a mother at this time.
After receiving the prescription from the doctor, they went downstairs to get the medicine and prepared to go home.
"Do you really not know much about your own body? Your period has been delayed for so long, didn't you notice anything?"
Sophia was now in a panic. "My period has always been irregular, I never paid attention to it. How was I supposed to know I was pregnant this time?"
"I think you should discuss this with Carlos. After all, this is something that concerns both of you."
Sophia sighed lightly and said, "Alright, I'll tell him when he comes back tonight. Um, if we decide to keep the baby, can I still stay with you?"
Charlotte was also worried that Sophia wouldn't take good care of herself, so having her stay would be helpful.
He has at least fathered two children and knows how to take care of pregnant women. This way, it wouldn't put too much pressure on him.
"Of course, you can come anytime you want."
Charlotte's words undoubtedly reassured her.
She already didn't know how to take care of herself well, and now that she was pregnant, she felt even more flustered.
Glaring at her, they headed back.
On the way home, Sophia looked out the window lost in thought. When they arrived near his company, Sophia decided to go up for a visit.
"How about I go find him now and tell him about this first? Let him digest it by himself this afternoon, and I'll take you out for dinner later."
Charlotte nodded. "Sure, you go ahead. I'll wait here."
With a nervous heart, Sophia walked into her office.
She had crumpled her medical report a bit with nervousness.
When she entered, Carlos was still busy with the files on his computer.
He didn't notice anyone coming in, showing how focused he was.
"I have something to tell you."
Carlos finally noticed someone in the room and quickly put down what he was doing, standing up to look at her.
"What's the matter? Why didn't you call me? What's in your hand?"
Carlos took what she had in her hand and looked at it before falling silent for a moment.
Seeing his reaction, Sophia felt disappointed and a bit angry. "Are you saying you don't want this child?"
Carlos explained, "No, it's just that this happened so suddenly. You really surprised me. When did this happen?"
Sophia finally relaxed a bit hearing his response, and a gentle smile appeared on her lips. "It's been two months. I went for a check-up this morning, and Charlotte accompanied me."
"Give me some time to prepare."
Sophia misunderstood his meaning, not understanding what he needed to prepare for.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm going to prepare for our wedding. I will marry you and give you a home."
Sophia heard this, and his firm answer dispelled her previous unhappy thoughts. She just felt a wave of happiness rising in her heart.
Now she realized she wasn't so averse to the idea of having this child.
She was just worried about Carlos not being reliable, not being a good father, which is why she had these concerns.
But seeing him choose her so firmly, all these worries gradually disappeared.
"Do you really want to marry me?" Sophia asked again, fearing she might have misheard earlier.
Carlos feared she might misunderstand his words. "I really want to. Not because of this child, but because I really want to be with you. Even if we didn't have this child, we would still get married eventually, wouldn't we? It's just a bit earlier than expected."
Sophia thought about it and realized it was true. Over the years, he had been with other people, but it was never as good as being with Carlos. They both firmly believed in each other, so marriage in the future was only a matter of time.
Just like he said. Even without this child, they would still get married, just a bit sooner than expected.
Carlos held her tightly, his eyes slightly red.
He also felt that their current situation wasn't suitable for having a child so soon.
Of course, he envied the two children in Luna's family; they were indeed very cute. But he never expected to have his own child so soon.
Now he didn't need to envy others anymore!
"Let's have dinner together tonight. You can be busy now, Charlotte is waiting for me downstairs."
Carlos nodded. "Alright, leave it to me here. You just take care of yourself at home."
Seeing him like this, Sophia couldn't help but find it funny. "It's only been two months; I'm not that tired yet. You go ahead and be busy; I'm leaving."
Carlos nodded. "Call me when you get home."
"Okay."
Sitting back in the car, Sophia remembered Carlos's perfect response just now, feeling very satisfied.
"Because you two were chatting so happily."
Sophia nodded with a smile. "Yes, he said he would prepare for the wedding. He said he would marry me and would never let me down. I also think he's a reliable man."
Charlotte patiently said to Sophia, hoping she could reduce some of her mental stress. "That's good. I think he won't bully you in the future. Just relax and marry him. Having a child in the future can also be a companion for Andy and Liliya. Isn't that nice?"
