Chapter 976 I Must Return to the Hotel
I nodded, looked at him sincerely, and said, "Thank you, Dr. Wacket."
He smiled, simply said goodbye, and left.
Seeing him leaving, Astoria turned to me and said, "I bought quite a bit of snacks just now."
Looking at the pile of food on the dining table, I smiled and said, "It's okay, you should eat more."
She pouted and said, "Alright. Dr. Wacket said Mr. Lucas's condition has stabilized, so he should be fine when he wakes up later. You were almost strangled just now. After all that commotion, come eat something and replenish some energy."
Indeed, it was time to eat something. It seemed I could not return to the hotel early tonight as I still had to wait and see how Lucas was after he woke up.
Astoria had truly bought a lot of delicious food, all of which were specialties of Tully City. They were primarily focused on sour, spicy, and sweet flavors, even the snacks, though the desserts were of course not.
"Ms. Scott, try this pizza. It's sweet and spicy and tastes pretty good." She offered me a portion.
I nodded, thanked her with a smile, and ate some.
As Yaron said, it was not long before Lucas woke up. Seeing me sitting by his side, he stared at me blankly for a while. Noticing his gaze, I slightly smiled and said to him, "You're awake."
He nodded and moved his body. Then, realizing he was tied up, he looked at me strangely.
I felt awkward with his eyes on me but still explained, "I was afraid that you’d go crazy when you wake up, so..."
He seemed not to mind being tied up, gave me a slight smile and said gently, "I know." After a short pause, he added, "Yvette, about earlier... I'm sorry, I... couldn't control myself."
I pulled a face and slightly shook my head. Noticing his condition had improved a lot, I started to untie him. However, he suddenly stopped me, saying, "Don't."
I looked at him in a puzzled manner, only to hear his hoarse voice say, "If I don’t endure it, I might still have an episode. Don't untie me, or I might hurt you again."
"You won't," I said, looking at him. "While you were unconscious, I had a doctor come over. He administered some sedative and calming medication. You won't have another episode for a while."
His brows furrowed slightly at the mention of a doctor, his eyes filled with wariness.
Knowing what he was worried about, I quickly explained, "It's okay, the doctor is someone I specifically hired. He won't say anything; don't worry."
He lowered his gaze, then hummed softly in acknowledgment.
Seeing that he did not have any objections, I untied the ropes binding him and also placed some freshly made food in front of him, saying, "Eat something. The doctor said that in your condition, it's best to eat as much as you can, using food to nourish your body. Once you're in better shape, you'll be able to better withstand the pain during episodes."
He seemed to speak less now. Hearing me say this, he just nodded and silently began to eat.
I sat quietly beside him, and we were enveloped in a strange atmosphere. We had not seen each other in a long time, and there should have been a lot to say and ask, but now we were both silent.
Knock knock... Astoria stood at the door and knocked a few times. Seeing us look toward her, she smiled at me and said, "Ms. Scott, you can rest on the second floor tonight. I've made the bed for you, and all the toiletries are ready."
I quickly shook my head, saying, "No need, I'll go back to the hotel in a bit."
Noticing Lucas's gaze on me again, I looked at him and paused before saying, "After you've eaten, just lie down and get some good sleep. I'll come back tomorrow."
