Chapter 975 Is There Any Way to Help Him?
I raised my hand to hold Astoria’s and smiled slightly at Yaron, who looked toward us. "Dr. Wacket, are we disturbing you?"
Yaron smiled slightly, speaking in a soft voice. "It's alright."
After that, he continued to examine Lucas. I pulled Astoria out of the room.
"Ms. Scott, does that doctor have such keen ears? He could hear me even though I spoke so softly! Astoria asked me just after we left the room.
I looked at her and said, "The room is only so big. Even if he didn't hear, it's not appropriate for you to whisper to me like that. Besides, I'm the one who found him. There won't be any issues. We might not have time to cook later, so go out and buy some food. Also, see if there's a clothing store nearby and bring back a couple of sets of clothes for Lucas. I'll stay back here."
After speaking, I handed her a card and said, "Take this. Use the money in this card for the time being."
She quickly waved her hands in refusal. "No need, no need. Mr. Fowell already gave me plenty of money. I have money."
"Keep the money Inch gave you for later use. This money is Lucas's. He gave me some money back in the day, and it's only right to use it for his care now. Don't dawdle now, go on."
She opened her mouth to protest, but seeing my serious attitude, reluctantly took the card and left. By the time I returned to the room, Dr. Wacket had already performed some basic treatment on Lucas's injuries, but his brows were furrowed tightly. Hearing some noise, he turned to look at me and said, "Ms. Scott."
I nodded slightly, looking at the unconscious Lucas, and asked, "How is he?"
Yaron paused for a moment and said, "The external injuries are just some superficial scratches and tears, nothing serious. However, Ms. Scott, as you must have noticed, these needle marks are enough to explain the real problem. In his condition, he might need to be sent to a specialized detox rehab center. Otherwise, staying here could be very dangerous for you, your friend, and Mr. Lucas himself."
I was well aware that keeping Lucas here was dangerous, but if he could be sent to a rehab center, I would have done so already.
Looking at Yaron, I paused before asking, "Dr. Wacket, I don't know much about drug addicts. With his condition, how long would it take to detox? How can he detox? What do we need to do?"
Yaron looked at me and after a long silence, solemnly said, "Endure it." He continued, "His situation is quite severe. Whether he continues to use drugs or goes through detoxification, either could be life-threatening if not careful. And for those taking care of him, he likely has had episodes of addiction where he completely lost reason. In such states, he could harm not just himself but others as well."
I sighed and nodded slightly. If Astoria had not been there during his episode, I might really have been strangled to death.
Yaron, after all, was a doctor, and I figured asking him about other matters probably would not yield much. After thinking for a moment, I said, "In any case, thank you for coming today, Dr. Wacket."
He shook his head slightly and after giving a few words of advice, said, "I've administered some sedatives to calm him down, so he should be relatively stable when he wakes up. However, I can't guarantee when he might have another episode. As you know, my expertise is mostly in convalescence, so I'm not particularly specialized in pathological conditions. But don't worry, I'll look up some information when I get back. There might be new findings that could offer a way to help you."
