Chapter 40

♡ Lauren’s POV ♡ As his eyes looked straight at me, I felt the air rush out of my lungs. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and turned my eyes back to the teacher, who glared at the interrupter. Chris must have seen our exchange. He was laughing. I bit my lip when I saw Magee striding angrily towards us. As he approached, he dropped the bag on Chris's desk. "You sit in my seat.” "He said angrily. To get everyone's attention, including mine. 'I didn't know this chair had an owner! Chris said sarcastically. When Magee clenched his hands, it seemed to make him even more excited. "Get the fuck out of my chair! ” Magee almost shouted. Veins in his neck could pop out at any moment. When I thought he had gone too far, I decided to step in. "Magee, please change your seat. You're a little dramatic.” I whispered to him. I must have been a little louder because I heard someone gasping around me. Obviously, everyone was surprised by my reaction to Magee. He glances at me, picks up his bag and slams off, sitting down next to Polly, who smiles contentedly. "What crawled up his ass and died? "Chris complained, drawing my attention to him. He folded his hands and stared into the void. "I guess he had a bad day.” I shrugged, trying to look nonchalant. I thought it didn't work because Chris turned to me with his eyebrows raised. He looked me in the eye and smiled. "Sounds like you know him.” "He joked. "Well, we're friends.” "I whispered, in a voice only he could hear. Yeah, friends don't have sex with each other, Lauren. My consciousness alerted me "Looks like you're more than just friends.” Chris snorted and listened with all his attention. The words made me blush, and I cautiously tried to look back at Magee. I met Magee's glare, and he was staring angrily at Chris and me. Polly notices my gaze and touches Magee's arm, seducing his hand. It made me so angry to see her smirking at me like that, I just wanted to pull her hair out. Magee didn't move his hand, which made me even angrier. Oh, my God, it's not nice to be jealous. I looked away from them and focused on the teacher, who was already explaining something I didn't know. I tried to concentrate on the teacher for the rest of the lesson, but this proved difficult as I could hear Polly's flirtatious laughter. My skin tingled as I tried not to look back at what they were doing. Her giggling reminds me of the bad scenario where Magee is flirting and then they get back together and have a happy family. . . Come on, Lauren, you're making things worse! My subconscious reminds me. After class, I was the first one to leave. My heart beat faster when I heard quick footsteps behind me, making me believe it was Magee. I was almost jogging now, and I turned a corner when the man put his hand on my shoulder and told me to stop. I turned around and saw Chris struggling to breathe. When I saw it wasn't Magee, I was a little disappointed, and I didn't even like the thought of it. "Damn it, short man, you're walking fast! ” Chris joked. . "Did you forget to show me around? You can't get away from me so easily.” He told me, making me smile sheepishly. "Oh, I didn't forget I just had to rush to the bathroom, I really needed to pee.” I tell a lie. "Oh, really, then I think you're going in the wrong direction because I saw a door marked 'bathroom' next to where you just left the classroom.” "He teased, raising his eyebrows. All right, fuck it. My excuse's gone. "You don't have to tell me who you're running from.” When he saw the look on my face. I really don't want to tell someone I just met about Magee, even though he seems cool. I smiled and told him to follow me, and I showed him around. I managed to avoid Magee for the rest of the day, and I was surprised when he didn't do his best to find me. Maybe he doesn't need me anymore, I thought sadly. I know I left him, but I just wanted him to fight for us. Makes me feel like I'm worth it. But I don't think I am. I was on my way to my dormitory when the telephone rang. My heart skipped a beat when I thought it was Magee. I quickly hooked it up, but I was disappointed to hear Bella's voice instead of Magee's gravelly voice. "Why didn't you call? "Bella screamed into the phone. It's very unusual for me not to speak to her for more than a day, but what can I do? I mourn the loss of my relationship. "I'm kind of busy.” I said over the phone that I felt guilty for not telling her what had happened. Yes, crying for a man you thought loved you. "Yes, with Magee.” Bella joked, not knowing the effect. Hearing Magee's name from her mouth finally made me realize I had lost him, and the thought scared me. I must have been silent for a while, because Bella spoke in a very quiet voice. "What happened? She asked. "I don't want to talk about it.” I sighed. "You'd better be here in ten minutes.” "She argued. "Bella.” I lamented. I don't want to go through this again. It's embarrassing enough that this happened to me. "Lauren! ” 'There is no room for debate,' she said. "All right, all right.” I sighed and turned toward her apartment. When I got there, the first thing she did when she saw my face was give me a big hug. I couldn't help sobbing when I remembered what had happened. "That little bastard will pay for what he did to you! ” Bella promised as she stroked my back.
