Chapter 39
♡ Lauren’s POV ♡
"She's not a whore! ” I heard Magee shout before I closed the door and left him. When I arrived at the dormitory, I did not look back once. I wanted to go to Simon and Bella's, but I didn't want to bother them with my questions. I knew what I was getting into, and I foolishly thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with Magee. But it was just a dream. The proof is on my face.
I went to the mirror and looked at my tear-stained face. The ugly red mark she had left on my cheek stood proudly laughing at me. I was too embarrassed to even think about what had happened, when I had to face them all again, alone. All I want to do now is go to sleep and pretend nothing happened.
With this in mind, I walked to my bed and was about to fall asleep when my phone rang. I looked at the caller and wasn't surprised to see it was Magee. I totally hung up because I didn't want to look him in the eye and make myself look stupid. If he really loves me, then he will fight for me and I can't do all the fighting. Thinking of this, I finally fell asleep.
When I woke up, Vicky slammed on the door and smiled at me. I rolled my eyes at her childishness and turned my back on her. I don't have the energy or time to argue with her. My stomach grunted and I realized I hadn't eaten anything today. Of all the events that happened, food was the last thing on my mind.
I know I should go get something to eat, but I have no appetite for anything. I picked up my phone, put it back and saw that Magee had left me about a hundred missed calls and 50 messages. I don't want to see them or call him back. It pains me to think of him.

I woke up with a headache and decided to skip school today. I just wanted to stay in my dorm room and grieve like I just lost the most precious thing I ever had, Magee meant so much to me.
I felt weak and it was my fault because I hadn't eaten anything. I got up and went to the bathroom to try and get ready. I was taking off my clothes when I suddenly felt sick and I threw up in the toilet.
I feel like I threw up for an hour, but I'm pretty sure it was only five minutes. My frail body struggled to get to my feet and I staggered towards the shower. I turn on the tap and dive under the running water.
I took a shower to make sure I was clean because there was vomit on my skin. Five minutes later, I finally emerged, feeling more awake than A few minutes earlier. I sighed and chose a long dress. I decided to wear flats. I'm not in the mood to go anywhere.
I looked at myself in the mirror for the last time, the dark circles under my eyes and my pale face, and I winced. I really should eat something. Thinking of this, I slam the door, which will surely wake Vicky up.
I walked so fast that I felt hungry with every step. When the cafe appeared in front of me, I thanked God and walked into the cafe. I was glad to see that it was not full of people, but only two customers.
I placed my order and was waiting for my coffee and doughnuts when I saw a figure. I was surprised to see Polly walk in, shaking her hair while chatting with someone on her phone. When she spotted me and walked toward me with a proud smile on her face, I let out a silent moan.
The lady behind the counter called to me and offered me the doughnut with a sweet smile. After giving her a forced smile, I turned, coffee and doughnuts in hand, and walked over to Polly.
"I'm sorry.” I grunted and avoided her.
"Oh, that's okay, I mean you've been through so much that you can be explained for acting like a sad bitch.” Her nasal voice derided, turning me back to her.
"What are you talking about? I asked, puzzled.
"Oh, I heard you broke up with Magee. I'm really sorry.” She smiled and giggled and snorted.
'You told his parents! I accused. Now I know why his parents were in his attic yesterday. The thought made me sick because I had no idea Polly would stoop so low to get Magee back.
"Well, damn bitch, I don't like a man who tries to steal me with an ugly hoe! ” She turned her fingers derisively. I know Magee and I aren't together right now, but I'm upset that she's claiming him as her man, and I find myself spitting angry words at her.
"I didn't steal anyone's man. He came to me of his own free will, and I am sorry that you could not keep him, but that he had to turn to someone who could give him better pleasure. '
With one last retort, I walked away from her, leaving her mouth open. I don't care now. I just want the day to end.
When I arrived at the school, there were not many students in the corridor. I was on my way to class when a teacher called me. He was talking to a strong boy whom I had never seen before. He had his back to me, and as I approached them, he turned, and his eyes startled me. He's a good-looking guy with a boy-next-door look. Magee has that bad-boy image, but he's the opposite.
I stopped in front of them and let their attention shift to me. His muddy brown eyes stared at me, widening in surprise. God, I know I look like shit, but can't he keep his surprise until I'm gone? !
He finally smiled in a friendly way, and I was taken aback by his straight white teeth. This guy is like Ken. I wonder who his Barbie doll will be? I couldn't resist giving him a smile of my own. This is real, not forced.
Mr. Marshal cleared his throat to divert my attention from the stranger. To distract me from him, I raised my eyebrows and waited for him to tell me why he was calling me by name.
"Lauren, this is Chris. He just got transferred here.” "Mr. Marshal said as he introduced us.
I looked up at the stranger whose name I now knew was Chris, a name that suited him.” Oh, yes, nice to meet you.” I said, extending my hand to shake his.
He gave me a firm handshake and smirked, "It's my pleasure.”
"Lauren, if you get a chance, I'd like you to show him around the school.” Mr. Marshal continued.
'Yes, of course! I happily agreed. Chris didn't look so bad, and maybe I'd like to show him around. Anyway, it's a distraction from Magee.
"All right, you go to class now, quickly.” "Mr. Marshal said, laughing and clapping his hands as he jumped down the hall.
When Chris turned his attention to me, he announced, "Well, that's amazing! ” .
"Yes, he's a bit odd.” I'm talking about Mr. Marshal, who was still bouncing up and down the hall, stopping to grab a guy who was kissing the cheerleader by the ear.
"I can see that.” Chris said with a smile.
"Okay, so what are you taking now? "I asked.
"Business.” He answered.
"Oh, I'm taking this class too, so come with me.” I told him.
"Ladies first.” Chris joked as he bowed.
I smiled as he followed me to class. We sat at the front of the class, taking things out while waiting for the other students. As the teacher was about to start her lecture, Polly decided to grace us with her unwelcome presence.
She rocked her hips to the back of the classroom and caught everyone's attention.
"What the hell happened to her leg? Looks like she's trying to dislocate her hip! ” Chris suddenly announced, which made me laugh. I was about to answer when Magee came in and looked around the room.
