"But all that mutual dislike doesn't really matter anymore. After all, he'll be spending the rest of his life with you. He and I will never see each other again," Adonis said quietly.
Each word felt like a dull blade cutting into Meredith's heart, making her every breath feel heavier with pain. Sorrow filled her eyes.
In her voice, there was a hint of reluctance when she asked, "And what about me? You don't want to see me ever again, do you?"
"Well, of course not," Adonis replied.
His first sentence was like a painkiller, but the one that followed injected poison directly into her veins.
Adonis went on, "You did raise me, after all. I will always pay my respects to you on holidays and special occasions, as any junior family member would to their elder. I won't miss a single greeting, Sis."
