Chapter 766
After explaining, Keaton sighed before shaking his head silently.
Steven felt a bit of sympathy as he watched. The older brother whom Jonah had been searching so hard for had become estranged from the family.
It seemed like there had been a serious conflict between him and the family in the past. These big families were complicated.
Luckily, he was born into a happy and loving family.
"General Lewis, should I continue looking for your elder brother?" Suddenly, Zeke's calm voice interrupted Jonah's thoughts.
Jonah's head snapped toward him, and there was no longer sadness on his face. Instead, Jonah had a dark expression as he stared at Zeke.
Zeke returned his gaze calmly without backing down.
After a moment, Jonah clenched his teeth and turned to Steven. He said, "Dr. Lewis, you saved my life! In my whole life, I have never let anyone down!
"But today, I must let you down just this once! Back then, it was the Lewis family who owed my eldest brother! His and my nephew's whereabouts are very important, even more so than my own life!
"Today, just think of me as the villain. I hope you can help me one more time!" As he spoke, he didn't hesitate to kneel to Steven as a sign of respect.
"General Lewis, there's no need for this." Steven quickly helped him up, seeing the tense expression on Jonah's face. Steven was touched.
He knew how proud Jonah was. For someone so proud to be willing to let down his savior and admit to being a villain showed just how serious this was.
For Jonah, this might have been harder than death. It was unimaginable how much struggle and determination it took Jonah to say these words. In his eyes, the importance of his elder brother and nephew might've surpassed everything.
Keaton turned away with pity.
Taylor looked at Jonah kneeling to Steven. He had a trace of disappointment in his eyes, followed by a hint of contempt. He had initially respected Jonah's strength.
But for Jonah to compromise and kneel to an enemy for the sake of family—even losing his pride in the process. It made Taylor feel disdainful.
Zeke looked at Jonah with a playful smile as if everything was within his control. Controlling such a proud person like Jonah gave him a sense of achievement.
"General Lewis, you've suffered for the country all your life, protecting the people. So what's a small sacrifice from me?" Steven said calmly with a light smile.
To him, Taylor was already as good as dead. Letting him live a few more days, taking his life personally, and watching the Caldwells fall would be even better!
Jonah didn't know this and felt that Steven had sacrificed for him yet again. When he looked at Steven, there was a hint of guilt on his face.
Zeke smiled faintly. He said, "Dr. Lewis is indeed a great benefactor of the Caldwells. Would you cure my son's poison now?"
It seemed as if he had calculated everything, with events unfolding as planned. Even someone as powerful as Jonah was within his schemes!
"Sure."
