Chapter 764

The Caldwells had been powerful in Southbury for many years, yet Zeke had raised a son like Taylor. Were they as incompetent as they seemed? It was impossible for Zeke, the head of the family, not to know that Taylor had mobilized so many people! The father and son duo; one with a fierce, unyielding personality like a sword, and the other a cunning, smiling tiger. Were they truly related by blood? There was a loud slap. Jonah raged and slapped Zeke across the face. Jonah shouted angrily, "Zeke, I've treated you with respect because the Caldwells have served the country for generations. "But now, you refuse to accept decency! Your son tried to kill my savior, and you think you can brush this aside?" Jonah generally respected his peers, as they were all fighters who fought for their country. But now, the Caldwells' arrogance was too much. Even if a civilian were killed instead of Steven, it would still mean they had no regard for the lives of the people! Zeke had been slapped in front of everyone. He simply touched his face with a smile and said, "General Lewis, you must be furious. How could one slap be enough?" He turned his cheek and said, "Here, if you're still angry, hit this side too." This unexpected move left everyone stunned. No one expected that the head of the Caldwells was this shameless. Those who could endure such humiliation, were in fact, the most terrifying. There was a saying in Southbury, "The father and son of the Caldwells; a dragon and a tiger." The dragon referred to Taylor. A proud, extraordinary, and always victorious man since his rise. Meanwhile, the tiger referred to Zeke. Although he wasn't as impressive as Taylor and was rumored to retire and pass the leadership to his son, he was actually a cunning tiger who controlled the family power! Zeke smiled lightly and said, "If you won't slap me, then please have Dr. Lewis cure my son's poison quickly. The Caldwells only have one heir!" Then, he suddenly changed his tone. "Of course, if you're unwilling, that's fine too. However, I have already contacted many old friends to look for your nephew. "But I can't promise if they'll try their best… And when your nephew is found, it's hard to say if he'll be dead or alive!" At his words, energy burst from Jonah's body. With a loud bang, he grabbed Zeke by the neck. Jonah's face was full of rage as he said, "Zeke, do you think I don't dare to attack you? "I do not care about friendships or threats! Your son has broken national and military law!" But Zeke only smiled calmly at Jonah and stood firm. "My son is the future of the Caldwells. If he's killed, my family will have no one to carry on our legacy. "For that, I'll pay any price—even if it means your nephew's safety. I hope you won't regret it then!" "General Lewis!" Keaton glared at Zeke, worried. He knew how much Jonah's nephew meant to both Jonah and the Lewis family. While tension filled the air, Steven suddenly spoke, "If I cure your son's poison, will you continue looking for General Lewis' nephew?" "Dr. Lewis, don't do it!" Jonah frowned and said quickly, "I have enough people searching; the entire Southern State is covered! I don't need his help!" He knew how proud Steven was. He was someone who never bowed to others. This was clear when Steven stood against the Caldwells for Rose. Now that Jonah owed Steven for saving his life, he couldn't let Steven cure an enemy for his sake. But Zeke's eyes brightened and he smiled subtly, saying, "Of course! And…" He looked at Jonah meaningfully and said, "To tell the truth, I've already received news that General Lewis' older brother was seen near Southbury! I believe there will be news soon."
