Chapter 759

Steven scanned the group of men. He finally saw Nathan stepping forward with a cold glare fixed on him. A faint smirk played on Steven's lips. "So, it's the Caldwell family. Running out of people, are they? What's the deal with sending their dog—the one who's done my bidding before?" "Shut up!" Nathan's face flushed with anger, his veins bulging. The day he had been forced to work for Steven felt like his darkest shame. Having it exposed in front of so many was so infuriating that he was ready to tear Steven apart! "Once a lapdog, always a lapdog. I think I'll call you Nathan the Mutt," Steven said with a calm smile. "You're asking to die!" Nathan roared, his patience finally snapping as he lunged forward. The moment he unleashed his strength as a profound grandmaster, he became unstoppable, sweeping through the room like a fierce gust of wind. In an instant, he was in front of Steven, grabbing him by the neck and sneering. "You think your status as a grandmaster matters to me? Don't think just because you've got Jonah backing you up, I won't take you down. I could haul you out of here right now, and Jonah would never know. Kneel now and plead for mercy!" "Kneel!" The crowd shouted in unison, their fierce gazes pressing down on him. Steven's face flushed as Nathan tightened his grip. Yet Steven just sneered and said, "Oh, Nathan the Mutt, you're not fooling anyone. If you had the guts to kidnap me, you wouldn't be wasting all this time talking. Or are you just here to scare me into curing your boss' poison?" "You!" Nathan's face twisted. With the Caldwell family's connection, he already knew that Steven had cured Jonah. Now, he just hoped that intimidation might work since kidnapping Steven was too risky. A single leak and Jonah would surely come after them. Not a single Caldwell warrior was a match for him. But Steven wasn't afraid in the slightest. He had already seen through their entire scheme. His voice was cold and unyielding. "Are you going to let go now?" "You…" Nathan was furious. But before he could finish, Steven slapped him across the face. Steven said indifferently, "Is a lapdog like you seriously trying to outsmart me? If you're too scared to make a move against me, then you're not even worth talking to. Bring out your boss." Nathan took the slap to his face, his fury boiling over. But he still didn't dare make a move. Just then, a calm voice sounded. "Enough. It wouldn't be Steven if he could be intimidated by you. Step back." The men in black parted like a tide, revealing Taylor seated at the table. His sharp brows and calm yet piercing demeanor resembled a sheathed blade. He was wearing a glove on his right hand. But beneath it, traces of his skin showed a darkened hue. Nathan reluctantly released his grip, casting a dark look as he said, "General Caldwell, I'm sorry. I didn't expect…" With a slight smile, Steven casually brushed off Nathan's angry glare and sat down across from Taylor. As he leaned in, a faint, unpleasant stench wafted from Taylor. Steven smirked and remarked, "The poison is in your lungs now, gnawing at you like a thousand biting insects. If you want me to cure the poison, let's see what you've got to offer." With Jonah's protection, Steven knew he had all the power to decide whether or not to cure Taylor.
