Chapter 1168

Adrian could also tell how genuinely happy Gloria was. The generator broke down three times throughout the entire journey. An eight-hour journey dragged out to twelve hours. It was night by the time the wooden boat finally arrived at Noirsandia's Northseaton. The boat pulled into a broken-down dock usually used by fishermen. The harbor was brightly lit. Mya grumbled, "I'm exhausted from that hazardous boat ride. This is all your fault, Brett." Brett held his hands in the air. "The most important thing is that we arrived in one piece. We should count our lucky stars that we even found a boat to get here, so please, stop your complaining." "I'm hungry. How about something to eat?" Gloria suggested. "A car's here to pick us up, so we should hurry over." The group left the harbor and found two jeeps waiting for them. Two middle-aged men were standing by the vehicles, with one of them stepping forward when Adrian and the others arrived. "Sir, we're in charge of defending Noirsandia. Headquarters instructed us to send you to your hotel. We'll drive you to the airport tomorrow morning where you'll board a direct flight to Sormbay.” "Good work," Adrian replied. "This way, please." The group got into the jeep and traveled through Northseaton, where they arrived at the best hotel the town had to offer twenty minutes later. After the jeeps stopped, one of the middle-aged men headed inside to make the arrangements, while the other said, "Sir, we didn’t clear out the hotel so as not to raise our enemies’ suspicions. Your rooms have already been arranged, and someone will take you there. We'll be taking our leaves now, but we'll be back tomorrow morning." "Okay, go ahead." The two men left, while Adrian’s group walked into the hotel. The hotel manager stepped forward and said, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Theo? Mr. Enzo's VIP guests?" Enzo was the middle-aged man from before. Adrian nodded. "That's right, I'm Theo." "These are your room keys. I'll have someone deliver food to your rooms later. The elevator's this way." Adrian took the keys and headed upstairs, where they were provided two rooms. He handed one of the keys to Brett. "Try not to sleep too deeply tonight. We'll be leaving tomorrow morning, the earlier the better." Brett nodded. "Understood." Adrian then showed Gloria and Mya to their room. The women quickly got comfortable on the bed, stretching after that long, tiring boat ride. After a short rest, Mya got up and said, "Let's shower, Gloria. Food will be here soon." Gloria agreed and they headed into the bathroom. After closing the door, Mya poked her head out and said, "No peeking, understood? Otherwise, I'll gouge out your eyes.”
