Chapter 27
Nicole flipped through the diary and medical report expressionlessly.
Those words that carried pained, unhinged emotions in the diary and the difficult medical terms in the medical report hammered at her resolve.
Still, Nicole remained silent. Her face showed no emotion.
Yet, her fingers trembled ever so slightly when she got to the last page of the diary and saw the sentence which was written down with so much force that the paper was almost torn.
"I would choose death if that meant I could get her to look at me one more time."
A few days later, Nicole arrived outside one of Pasinia's best private hospitals' VIP ward where Maverick was staying.
She opened the door and entered the room. The smell of medicine and disinfectant filled the space in the ward.
Maverick was lying on the bed. He had lost so much weight that his cheeks were sunken. Color had drained from his face. They had connected a drip to the back of his hand.
