Chapter 391
She used to be part of the elite Blue Eagle Tactical Unit, taking down drug rings left and right—now look at her. How did it come to this?
Underneath the bright red wedding dress, Nora Murray slowly pushed the syringe into her vein. The needle lifted her skin slightly as it went in, and you could almost see the drug threading its way through her bloodstream.
Celeste Harper flinched, her brows tightening as she quickly looked away, unable to keep watching.
After what felt like a long pause, Nora tossed the used syringe into the trash. It landed with a sharp thud, like it carried the weight of her own self-disgust—not just for the shot, but for the person she saw in the mirror now.
“I’ll go run you a bath,” Celeste offered, just needing an escape from the suffocating tension in the room.
But Nora tugged lightly at the hem of her dress, stopping her.
Celeste turned back. Looking down, she saw Nora’s face—pale to the point of numbness.
“What is it?” she asked, her voice soft with concern.
