Chapter 304

"Here, right here. Jane! Make the guy in front stop the car!" Blackie was leaning on the car window, his cat-like eyes fixated on the paper fireworks stall whizzing by outside, he urged Jane. "William, please stop the car. I'm going to buy a gift here!" Jane said politely in her soft, tender voice. Bryan glanced out of the window, his face expressing indescribable feelings, "Jane, are you sure you want to buy a gift here?" This is a slum in Bannon city, where high-end shopping malls are unheard of, not even a decent supermarket. All that you'll find are dusty little grocery stores and a whole street of paper fireworks stalls. "Yes, indeed!" Jane nodded vigorously, "I'm gonna buy the gift right here!" "Alright!" Although Bryan had no idea what kind of gifts could be bought at such a place, yet since Jane had made the proposal, he would definitely not refuse his little sister. Bryan got out of the car with Jane, while Blackie, treading his cat-walk, led the way arrogantly into the shabbiest paper fireworks store. The chubby middle-aged owner immediately greeted them with a beaming face, "Little friends, what would you like to buy?" Blackie, with his arrogant strut, was examining the items on the shelves as if inspecting soldiers. Bryan and Jane had never been to such place before and were thus curiously looking all around. Bryan's arm was on Jane's shoulder, " Jane, do you know what all these things are for? They look kind of creepy." Jane looked at Bryan's terrified face and remembered that he was the kind of person who could be frightened to death by a haunted house. She held Bryan's hand, her tender voice trembling slightly, "Helen told us that we're going to play a ghost-catching game tomorrow. So, I need to buy some gear to look more like a skilled ghost-catcher!" Bryan helplessly twitched the corner of his eye. Could today's kids not play some more nurturing games? A few days ago, he said he was playing some game called Buried in the Mountain, and now he wants to play another game called Ghost Catcher, these games are really... "Meow~" Inaudible Blackie placed an ancient bronze coin in Jane's palm, "Buy this!" Jane raised the ancient bronze coin in front of Bryan, "Big brother, Jane wants to buy this!" Bryan took the ancient bronze coin, flicked it into the air and caught it, striking it onto the counter with flair, "Boss, pack this bronze coin for me!" "Alright, alright!" As soon as the chubby boss saw that bronze coin, he couldn't help grinning from ear to ear. After rummaging around the counter for a while, he finally found a dust-covered, dark red box. He rolled up his sleeve to wipe the dust off the box before putting the coin inside it, then handed it to Bryan with a beaming smile, "John, your taste truly is impeccable. This bronze coin is an authentic antique of the First Forest period." Bryan took the box and handed it to Jane, then asked the chubby boss, "How much is it?" "Hehe!" The chubby boss smirked flirtatiously, "John, you have such a keen eye, and we're fated to meet. Let me give you a discount. This ancient coin was originally twelve hundred thousand, but for you, I'll give you a ten percent discount, rounding off the extra, and charge you an even million." Bryan directly pulled out a black card and slapped it down on the counter: "Charge it!" The boss's demeanor was absolutely nouveau riche! However, Jane's eyes bulged with shock. She tiptoed and placed her hands on her hips, threatening, "Boss, you're scamming us by selling a copper coin for so much money? I'm going to bite you!" The chubby boss laughed off her threat: "Little friend, this uncle isn't scamming you. This ancient coin is the treasure of our store. Take it home, and it will keep all evils and ghosts at bay! It's really worth this much. If you don't believe me, take it home and show your parents, you won't be losing out or getting scammed in this uncle's shop!" Hearing this, Bryan looked around the dilapidated little shop suspiciously, questioning, "This tiny, shabby shop of yours actually has a shop treasure?" Upon hearing this, the chubby shop owner's smile grows even more jovial, "Young master, it appears that you're looking down on people. Our shop might be small but it has been around for a hundred years. Surely, we must have a couple of treasures that represent our store, right? Your cat seems to have quite the spirit, managing to pick the best treasure, isn't it?" Jane opened the box and took out the ancient bronze coin for a closer examination. Blackie sneered, "Little crybaby, your brother has a lot of money, is there a difference between a hundred thousand and ten for them? Enough, you're embarrassing yourself! This old coin is worth a hundred thousand!" Bryan arrogantly glared at the chubby shop owner, "Alright, I'll trust you for now. But if you dare to trick me, I'll trash this store of yours!" "No, no, I wouldn't dare!" the chubby shop owner quickly responded with a smile on his face. —— No sooner had Bryan and Jane left, the chubby shop owner shut the shop door and moved to the yard at the back of the shop. "Young master, as per your instructions, I've sold the ancient bronze coin to the Wallace family's little boy," the shop owner spoke, bowing his head respectfully as he stood in front of Frederick. His arm, tattooed with swirling chaos, slightly revealed itself with his movements.
