Chapter 303

Harold and John walked into the ward together with a stack of checklists. Mina immediately jumped down from the bed. "Big brother, the doctors all said I'm fine. I'm as lively as a dragon, let's get discharged and go home!" However, Harold was frowning, examining her up and down. Mina felt uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze. "Could it be that the doctor was lying to me? Do I really have a terminal illness? I remember clearly not hitting my neck. How could I faint from an impact to the carotid artery, jugular vein, and the vagus nerve…" She rambled on with a distressed look on her face. Harold sighed a resigned sigh, gently patted her on the face and said, "Wake up, stop spouting nonsense. Wanting to have a terminal disease, have you been watching too many dramas? Where would you get such a rare disease? I'm just examining you. You haven't eaten less, your body hasn't lost weight, how could you be suddenly malnourished?" "Malnourished? Me?" Mina pointed to her own nose in disbelief. Harold nodded. "Do I really have to follow Jane’s example in the future?" Mina had a bitter look on her face, glancing sidelong at Jane. Harold disdainfully patted her on the head and snorted, "Heh, you want to be on par with your little sister, are you as cute as her?" "Mmm, I'm not as cute as her, but I can't eat as much as her!" Mina said, then turned to Jane. "Jane, do you know which animal is both cute and good at eating?" "It's Mina!" Jane said with a stern face. "It's a pig!" Mina corrected with a frown. "Oh, Mina is a pig!" Jane said, with a look of sudden realization on his face. Mina: "..."She wanted to set up a trap for Jane, yet she was the one who got tricked by him! This was simply a stain on her life! Beside her, Harold had already begun to laugh at her unscrupulously. --- After returning home, John, being worried about the incident that happened earlier and the little ones at home, didn't go to his company or even his study. He took his iPad and sat on the sofa, studying the trends of stock, while watching Jane and Mina making a ruckus. When Jane passed by John, she glanced at the iPad and saw the stocks there, a thought suddenly flashed in her mind. By using her short and chubby fingers, she climbed onto the couch, pointed to a few stocks, and said to John, "Big Brother, buy this one, this one, and this one!" "Why?" John asked Jane gently. "Because they have a nice name." Jane put her hands on her waist, declaring it confidently. John could not help but laugh at her cuteness, but he still asked her seriously, "So, how much should we buy, according to Jane?" "Hm—" Jane tilted her little head, thinking in a cute manner, "How about buying one hundred million worth for each stock!" "Okay! If Jane says buy, we'll buy!" John's slender fingers tapped on the screen without hesitation, buying a hundred million worth for each of the stocks pointed by Jane. Only then Jane gleefully went off to play. She advised John to buy those three stocks not because they have nice names, but because these currently inconspicuous stocks very soon would receive a boost from new policies and eventually, under the fervent support of the general stock investors, become the stand-out hundred-fold-return stocks of the stock market. Before her time travel incident, in order to fund her time machine research, she put in a diligent amount of time and effort into investments. At the time she was researching these three stocks, she even lamented that she wasn't born a few years earlier; otherwise, she wouldn't have missed out on these game-changing stocks. John watched Jane run off into the distance then reconsidered the three stocks Jane had mentioned. Even though they were stocks of well-established companies, both their company profiles and performance were mediocre. Usually, such stocks don't skyrocket in value nor do they plummet. Nevertheless, since Jane intended to buy, he would buy 300 million's worth for her to hold onto. Once she matures, he would recollect with her about her first investment in life. It would likely be a beautiful memory to look back on. --- When Jane returned to her room, Blackie had unexpectedly lodged a book that looked like a fraud's handbook, "The Complete Collection of Ghost Capturing of Mao Mountain," onto her desk. Blackie himself, however, continued to lounge on the bed in a lordly manner, leaning against the stack of quilts. He dawdled along and said, "Little Crybaby, although both you and your demonic elder sister are rather shady characters, I as a dutiful and responsible cat, since I've decided to follow you, will uphold my responsibility to the end. Now study every talisman drawing method in that book on your desk!" Jane climbed onto her desk chair, her short and plump little fingers flipping through the book quickly, she then turned to Blackie and said, "Memorized it." Blackie nodded in satisfaction, "Mm, then get me a bag of small dried fish first. I'll eat while accompanying you. Take your time and memorize it, there's no rush." Jane's eyes, glistening like black obsidian, blinked rapidly, "Blackie, I said I memorized it." "If you've memorized it, then get to it!" Blackie furrowed his brows, looking rather fierce. Jane sighed, "I've remembered every method of writing talismans in this book!" "Nyaaa-" Blackie, who was waiting for Jane to give her some dried fish in a haughty manner, suddenly jumped up in fright. He looked at Jane in panic, "You... are you serious? You... you remember them all?" "Uh-huh!" Jane raised her eyebrows confidently, "If you don’t believe me, you can test me.” It's just a few talismans, right? Blackie bounded onto the desk, and her paw turned to one of the most complex talismans in the book, "Draw the Hexagram Yin Yang Talisman for me!" Without any hesitation, Jane picked up her brush and began to draw on her tablet. With each stroke of her brush, a talisman identical to the one described in the book began to take shape. Blackie was astonished and visibly swallowed, "You really and truly remembered them all?" Jane raised her chin in pride, "Why would I not remember how to draw a talisman like this? When I was studying the time machine, the blueprint drawings I made were many, many times more difficult than this." "Hmm, you've just memorized a few talisman shapes, and it's not like you've really caught a ghost. What’s there to be proud of?" Blackie turned her head haughtily. However, Jane was excited, "Now that I'm a failure in my studies, can we try to catch the unlucky ghost that’s trying to possess big brother?" "Do you think by drawing a few talismans, you can catch a malicious spirit like the Unlucky Ghost? You sure have a vivid imagination!" Blackie glanced at her, "Do you have money?" "I... I guess I'm well off." Jane said hesitantly. After all, she does have a whole room full of safes, which are filled with various treasures that her brothers have collected for her. "Great, then I'll take you, you bring the money, and we'll go buy equipment!" Blackie strutted towards the exit. But... Jane dug around in her pocket, pulling out a crumpled five-dollar bill, which she handed to Blackie, "Is... is this enough?" Blackie slapped his forehead, the corner of his eye twitched as he rolled his eyes at Jane, "Is this what you call having money? Truly...a lot of money indeed!" Jane's pretty little eyebrows wrinkled into waves, blinking her big eyes as she thought. She turned around, her short little legs pitter-pattering as she ran to her neighbor's door next door. The moneyless Jane, watching over a pile of treasures, crawled over to Bryan's doorway, peeking in with her small head. She blinked her sparkling big eyes pitifully, her gaze following Bryan's movements... Bryan was amused by her pitiful little appearance. He walked up to her, stretching out his hand to pinch her soft little face. "Why are you always staring at me? Do you think I'm especially handsome?" "Uh-huh, uh-huh!" Jane nodded sincerely, her eyes smiling in a crescent shape," The handsome guy, could you buy a gift for Jane?" "Sure, whatever gift Jane wants, I'll take you to buy it!" Bryan said generously.
