Chapter 171
Isaiah didn't take Yolanda seriously at all. If he didn't fear Harold, why would he be concerned about a teenage girl?
Even if Yolanda was capable and knew martial arts, so what? She might be able to handle a few security guards, but could she take on dozens? Hypothetically speaking, even if she could defeat dozens of them, she would still have to explain herself to the authorities.
The Henderson family wasn't a well-known name in Dowonair. They were just middle-class at best. For an ordinary citizen to think they could take on official forces was nothing short of foolishness.
"Someone's causing trouble! Get every security guard here now!" Isaiah grabbed the phone on his desk and called the security department, ordering them to send over reinforcements.
"Harold, your daughter dared to assault security guards! From now on, the Henderson family is blacklisted by Union Bank. Don't even think about getting another loan!
"I'm going to call the police to report your assault on our security personnel too. You can both expect legal consequences!
"Isn't your daughter under 18? Since she's familiar with that juvenile detention center, she might as well head back there!"
Harold frowned deeply upon hearing Isaiah's threats. He had punched Isaiah in a moment of impulse and was already regretting it.
But now, Yolanda had taken down several of the bank's security guards and further escalated the situation. With how things were going, it wasn't going to benefit the Henderson family at all.
Harold glared coldly at Yolanda and scolded her. "Yolanda, look at the mess you've made! Do you have any idea how hard I've worked for this family? And now you've ruined it all!
"How did you even get here? I went through so much trouble to get you into First Academy. Instead of attending classes, you're out here making trouble!"
At that moment, Harold vented all his frustrations from dealing with Isaiah onto Yolanda.
Even though Yolanda's admission to First Academy had nothing to do with him, he still felt entitled to claim that if it weren't for his hard work outside, she wouldn't have gotten into such an outstanding school.
Despite listening to Harold's self-righteous rant, Yolanda felt no emotional turmoil at all. Perhaps the original Yolanda had long been disappointed in this so-called father.
Harold was a textbook example of a toxic parent. He hid behind the excuse of being busy with work and pushed all the responsibilities of child-rearing onto his wife. Yet, he viewed his children as his property. Therefore, when Yolanda didn't meet his expectations, it enraged him.
To Yolanda, Harold was no more than a stranger. She could have simply ignored this situation. But if she wanted to fulfill the original Yolanda's wishes, the Henderson family couldn't go bankrupt now. That meant she needed to help Harold through this crisis.
However, helping didn't mean she had to put up with his rants.
Before Harold could finish venting, she cut him off sharply, "Even if I hadn't stepped in, he still wouldn't have approved your loan.
"Besides, you threw the first punch. Do you really think that he would have let you off the hook if I hadn't dealt with the guards? You'd probably be the one lying in a hospital right now."
"Why, you!" Harold hadn't expected Yolanda to talk back.
For a moment, he was left speechless and could only shout feebly, "I'm your father! How dare you talk back to me?"
"What's all this shouting about? What's going on here?"
Just as Harold and Yolanda were arguing, a stern voice rang out from behind them. Then, a group of people strode into the bank, heading straight for the loan department.
Leading them was a tall woman dressed in a gray suit. She exuded a commanding air and presence with every movement. She also wore a badge on her chest that read, "Lucia Clark—Branch Manager".
Upon seeing Lucia, Isaiah's face lit up as if his savior had shown up to save him. He hurried forward with an ingratiating expression.
"Ms. Clark, you're just in time! Someone's causing trouble! Harold came here to cause a scene because his company didn't qualify for a loan. He let his daughter attack our security guards.
"Just now, he even said that if I didn't approve the loan, he'd send people to deal with me!"
