Chapter 164
Luna felt a little hesitant. "So how can we get those families to file complaints? Parents don't usually bother with disputes between students…"
"That's where you're wrong, Luna. Parents care a lot about the learning environment at the academy. How many of them would tolerate a problematic student like Yolanda? Besides, she only got the first place once. Who knows if she used some special cheating method?
"Maybe the only reason they didn't catch her cheating is because Mr. Coleman has been covering for her! We just need to twist these rumors a bit and spread them around. Parents will definitely start sending in complaints."
After hearing this, Luna was convinced. "You're right. Let's do it!"
Luna thought for a moment and called a few more of her lackeys over to plan with her.
Undeniably, Luna and her group were very efficient at spreading rumors. Since Yolanda's assertive behavior had already rubbed many students the wrong way, it didn't take long for the false stories to stoke the dissatisfaction that had been simmering.
Within just one day, the board of directors of First Academy received over a dozen letters of complaint. Moreover, most of the parents sending these complaints were influential figures who had contributed significantly to the academy and held sway in board decisions.
Harvey sighed heavily as he looked at the stack of complaint letters. He wanted to protect Yolanda, having emphasized that she was a rare talent.
Nevertheless, the other directors of the school board didn't believe him. Instead, they suspected that he was favoring her because the Henderson family had bribed him.
Left with no other choice, Harvey decided to bring Yolanda into the board meeting. He hoped that by having her demonstrate her hacking skills in front of the board, he could convince the directors of her true abilities.
When Yolanda walked into the conference room, the directors of the school board turned to look at her with hostile gazes.
Yolanda remained expressionless as she made her way over to Harvey. "You wanted to see me, Mr. Coleman?"
Harvey had long gotten used to Yolanda's indifferent demeanor. He gestured to the seat he had specially reserved for her.
"Yolanda, have a seat."
Seated across from Harvey, the Dean of Students, Chris Sawyer, snorted coldly at Yolanda's flippant attitude.
He criticized, "As a student, you don't act like one at all. Didn't your teachers ever teach you to respect your elders? There are so many adults and people of position in the room. Yet, you ignored everyone."
Yolanda glanced at Chris and replied coolly, "I was raised to respect those who are deserving of respect."
Her implication was clear, aside from Harvey, neither Chris nor any of the other directors of the board present were worthy of her respect.
"You insolent brat!" Chris slammed his hand down on the table in anger.
He didn't bother arguing with Yolanda. Instead, he turned to Harvey. "Students who have no respect for their elders don't belong at First Academy!"
The other board directors quickly voiced their agreement.
"That's right! Mr. Coleman, you can't keep shielding her."
"Even if she's skilled in hacking, she's still a student. A student should act like one and focus on academics. I heard she didn't even finish middle school and has a record in juvenile detention. Can someone like her study in an academic setting?"
"I ranked first in the entrance exam," Yolanda interjected at just the right moment.
Hector Lowery, the director who spoke up earlier sneered dismissively, "You ranked first once, and now you're full of yourself. You're bound to drop down the rankings in the next exam."
"Anyway, who knows whether you cheated to get that score?"
"With Mr. Coleman protecting you like this, it wouldn't be surprising if you knew the exam questions in advance and memorized the answers!"
"Mr. Lowery!"
