Chapter 161
However, the only response Janice received was a sharp, searing pain in her knees.
"Ah!" She collapsed to the ground, and the intense pain nearly caused her to pass out.
Yolanda had broken both of her legs. After that, she casually tossed the wooden club to the ground beside Janice. The club landed on the floor with a loud thud.
Back at the banquet, Yolanda couldn't be bothered to deal with Janice. But now that Janice had come looking for trouble on her own, she would have to put up with any retaliation that Yolanda dealt her.
All Yolanda did was cripple her legs as she didn't want to dirty her hands over someone like Janice. After that, Yolanda continued walking down the alley while pulling out her phone to send a message.
When fortune and lady luck were no longer on a certain family's side, there was no need for them to continue existing anymore.
But just as Yolanda passed by the thugs lying on the ground, something caught her eye. She stopped in her tracks abruptly when she noticed a strange tattoo on Blondie's arm—it was the tattoo of a green lotus flower.
Out of curiosity, Yolanda examined the other thugs one by one and found that, like Blondie, each of them had the same tattoo on the inside of their arms.
"What organization are you people from?" Yolanda stepped on Blondie's chest and interrogated him icily.
"Ugh..." Blondie shut his mouth tightly with a look of defiance on his face.
"You won't talk, huh?" With that, Yolanda squatted down next to him. Then, she took out a silver needle and precisely pierced a meridian in his chest.
Hitting this particular point would cause excruciating pain without threatening his life. It was a technique commonly used for interrogations.
"Ah!" The moment Yolanda inserted the needle, Blondie let out a scream that sounded like he was on the brink of death. He writhed and struggled on the ground with all his might.
"Still not gonna speak?" Yolanda took out another silver needle and prepared to insert it into the next meridian.
"I… I'll talk…" Blondie couldn't take it anymore. He struggled to prop himself up from the ground.
"Hurry up then!"
"We are…"
He had only managed to utter those two words. In the next moment, his eyes widened, and his eyeballs bulged sickeningly.
Suddenly, he spat out a mouthful of blood. His body went limp and he collapsed to the ground, motionless.
Yolanda quickly checked Blondie's breathing and found that he was already dead. She dipped a silver needle into a bit of the blood at the corner of his mouth and brought it to her nose to sniff it.
The poison was the same as the one used on Nigel, except this variant was more potent and acted much faster.
Just as she put away the needle, she heard a series of muffled groans around her. The other thugs were also coughing up blood and dying one after another.
Janice had only intended to hire some thugs to rough Yolanda up. She never expected things to take such a horrific turn. As more and more men dropped dead around her, she fainted on the spot from sheer terror.
Yolanda looked at the corpses scattered all around and frowned. She couldn't stay here any longer. Given her current identity, it wouldn't be wise to get caught up in conflicts involving the city's underground forces.
As for Janice, the shock she experienced that day was punishment enough for her reckless actions. Yolanda knew that even if Janice woke up, she wouldn't dare say anything, much less admit that she had hired people to come after her.
So, while no one was watching, Yolanda quickly took a photo of the green lotus tattoos and swiftly left the alley.
After returning home, she looked up the origin of the green lotus tattoo. But even after using her hacking skills and searching through databases from all over the world, she came up empty-handed.
Later, she sent the photo of the tattoo to Gavin.
