Baby, You Blew up the Headquarters

"Baby, I'm back in the country. Can I see you?" Perhaps it was because Valentina had previously said that it wasn't convenient to meet, so Grey didn't dare to contact her until today. Valentina was typing with one hand, taking her time to reply, "Sorry, I'm leaving for Chadron tomorrow." "For the annual Dueling Competition? Are you sure you can be so bold now? Do I need to remind you, baby, you were the one who blew up the headquarters of the God Armed Alliance." "What am I afraid of?" "Are you waiting for me to leave together, or shall we meet in Chadron?" "Are you coming?" After agreeing to meet Grey in Chadron, the next day, Valentina left light-heartedly, carrying a black backpack. As soon as Valentina left, Selena came to knock on Valentina's door with breakfast, calling her sweetheart with a face full of smiles. But after knocking for a while and getting no response, Selena could only gently remind Valentina in a soft voice to remember to eat when she got up late. A perfect image of a loving mother, causing Diana in the other room to grit her teeth and block her ears. Just as Selena was about to leave for work, several brothers from the Ricardo family came with their wives and children, carrying gifts. They called out affectionately to George and Selena. Johnson was generous and spent a lot of money on buying things. Diana, holding the beautiful dress and gift given by Johnson, looked at the large gift boxes prepared for Valentina in Johnson's hand and felt unspeakable stuffiness in her heart, unable to cheer up at all. George was someone who valued family affection highly. Hearing the emotional apologies from his brothers, his heart softened, and he said that he'd let bygones be bygones regarding last night's events, emphasizing that they were still family. Seeing their George's anger subside, Johnson was overjoyed. Eagerly, he asked, "Well... Is Val at home?" However, Selena wasn't as easy to appease as George. She immediately put on airs, replying, "My baby girl is still sleeping in her room." "Well, I'll wait here for her. When she wakes up, I will apologize to her," Johnson said. Thus, Ricardo family brothers sat there, simply waiting. However, when it was noon, Valentina hadn't come out. So, on the following day, they came again. This time, they rushed in, looking grave as if someone's life was at stake. The aunts even began crying and wailing. George asked them what the matter was, only to find out there were problems in Johnson's stone factory. Mr. Katrine cancelled all of his orders. Afterwards, more clients also started cancelling their orders. Just like that, Johnson's business went up in smoke. Even factories that were supplying him wanted to stop their partnership. There was no need to guess the cause - it was because of Valentina. However, they still didn't get to see Valentina this time. "My sister has gone out, so there's no need for you guys to come anymore. She won't pay attention to you or accept anything from you," Augus returned from school and told them, then returned to his room. Upon hearing this, Ricardo family brothers felt as if their world was crumbling. To put it bluntly, Pena's family was basically working for Johnson's family, and Greg's family also relied on him to make money. Johnson's downfall would spell the end for all of them. ... At this time, Valentina had successfully arrived in Chadron. Stepping out of the airport, she took a taxi to a pre-booked hotel. At night, the quietness was shattered by a few gunshots. Valentina strode to the window and leaned with her hands on the sill, looking out over the bustling street below. Screams, pleas for mercy, and all sorts of languages mixed together into a cacophony. In Valentina's cold gaze, it seemed as if something was stirring. Gradually, as if awakening, she reacquired a long-forgotten feeling under her heart amidst this bloody atmosphere, and she felt her whole body relax. The entire night was not peaceful in this region. This was in the northwest of Chadron, which was not Valentina's final destination. The place she was heading to was even more chaotic and much less peaceful. Valentina wasn't in a hurry to continue her journey and remained in the hotel for two days. She didn't leave the hotel until the third day. Upon hearing where Valentina wanted to go, the thick-lipped black driver was unwilling to take her there. After doubling his fare, he was finally willing to take the risk and dropped Valentina off at the desired hotel. Before leaving, he kindly urged Valentina to leave as soon as possible. Valentina slung her bag over her shoulder and responded with a "thank you". Her mood was pretty good. While checking in at the reception, several tall, burly men of different skin colors came in to do the same. The leader was a man with yellow skin and black eyes. They were clad in mercenary combat gear, with guns at their waists and injuries on their bodies. The stench of blood was strong, indicative of a recent vicious battle. "Damn it! Even those unaffiliated bastards dare to cross us!" A blonde, blue-eyed mercenary, licking the blood off his mouth corner, spat furiously on the ground. A black mercenary said with a cold hmm, "Our boss is dead. Now, aren't we also disorganized 'loose cannons'?" The leading mercenary turned around, grabbed the black mercenary by his collar, and harshly warned him, "Badman, shut your mouth!" At this moment, the black mercenary was brimming with anger. He didn't think twice and also grabbed the leading mercenary's collar while emotionally shouting, "Was I wrong? Isn't our boss dead?! If she isn't dead, then bring her out! Bruno, I've had enough of you! Since the boss is dead, we might as well duke it out and go our separate ways. Come on!" "All of you, shut up! Isn't it enough to get bullied by others? Now you want in-fighting too?" The other mercenaries stepped in to break up the fight. Bruno gritted his teeth and let go of Badman. Badman stumbled backward several steps. At that moment, Bruno spoke sternly, "In the Dueling Competition in ten days, I'm going to get first place. By then, those who want to follow me can join. Those who don't want to, can join other organizations or submit to the God Armed Alliance. Your will is your own." Upon Bruno's words, everyone was in disbelief. Participating in the Dueling Competition, and taking the first place would obtain the recognition of everyone, thus making oneself eligible to become the organization's leader. This implied Bruno was indirectly admitting that their former boss was dead. "You, the boss? I am the first to reject you! I'd rather be a lone ranger!" Badman, after yelling these words, didn't heed the calls of his companions and walked out of the hotel. Bruno gritted his teeth, suppressing the anger and keeping silent. Looking at this scene, Valentina thought to herself, "Never have I imagined that my death would make my underlings' lives even more wretched than I anticipated." While busy with the check-in process, Bruno suddenly became aware of something. He turned to look at a girl who had been standing by his side, silently watching him and his companions argue. Indeed, the girl was looking at him. Bruno thought to himself, "This girl has quite the audacity." What surprised Bruno though was that the girl did not divert her gaze as he looked at her. Instead, she gave him a faint smile. Bruno stood dumbfounded. When he came back to his senses, the girl was already walked towards the elevator. Watching her retreating figure, Bruno's mind was filled with the image of the cryptic, shallow smile from the girl earlier. It gave him an inexplicably familiar feeling. Late into the night, Valentina stood by the window, gazing off into the distance at an expansive and lavishly adorned building that resembled a palace. This was the headquarters of the God Armed Alliance as Bruno mentioned earlier. This was the border of Chadron, a lawless land. Organized and disorganized mercenaries were everywhere, along with bounty hunters, fugitives, and wanted criminals from various countries. Criminals here were just ordinary people. This was a haven for the wicked, their paradise, but also their hell. Even so, there were some rules here. The God Armed Alliance was the most massive organization here, housing the best and most copious mercenaries enjoying the highest executive power. The operator behind the God Armed Alliance was the ruler of Chadron.
