Lydia Was Bewitched
Tim's gaze fell upon her face, giving her a glance.
He continued to untie the ropes, using a dagger to cut the clothes around her wound, revealing the bleeding gunshot wound.
Lydia lay on the bed, unconscious.
Tim cleaned off the dagger, disinfecting it.
As the tip of the blade entered the bloody hole, Lydia was awoken by the pain, her body began to struggle. Tim forcefully held down her shoulder, and in one go, managed to pry the bullet out of it.
Lydia fainted due to the pain again.
Tim put down the dagger, beginning to clean her wound.
A subordinate brought medication and gauze.
After the wound was cleaned and medicated, Tim helped her sit up, allowing her to lean on him as he bandaged her.
"Father..."
The unconscious Lydia suddenly murmured.
Tim, who was bandaging the wound, subconsciously glanced at her.
"Father..."
Again, she murmured.
Being a psychologist, Tim had encountered many psychologically disturbed people, yet he couldn't understand or analyze Lydia's twisted, pathological love for her father.
Having witnessed her father feed her mother to a leopard, she was scared to the point of mental illness. Yet, she held no hatred towards her father. Instead, she yearned for more of his attention and care...
Anyone normal wouldn't behave like this.
Tim finished wrapping her wounds and then simply sat by the bedside, seemingly resting, but his gaze fixated on Lydia.
"You really are sick." Tim said to her.
The next day, Lydia woke up from unconsciousness, there was no one in the room besides her.
Her shoulder wound had been treated. She vaguely remembered Tim extracting the bullet for her...
She lowered her head to look at the clean clothes that she had changed into, clenching her teeth. Her face turned red, whether from anger or embarrassment, it was unclear.
The atmosphere in the Callahan Clan was intense.
The Callahan Clan held another large meeting.
And just as the meeting was about to end, Enzo's most powerful and trusted confidant returned. He announced to everyone present, “Miss Lydia was killed by Tim.”
No one would doubt the words of Enzo's confidant.
"The Babbitt family is too much, first it was Logan, then Aldo and Lydia. They're trying to wipe out our clan!" Enzo's second younger brother, Frank, slapped the table and stood up, filled with murderous intent.
"Enzo, we endured Logan’s death and Lydia’s injury, but now the Babbitt family thinks we are scared of them. Now they even dare to bully us at our doorstep," Enzo's Johnson, Stanley, said with a solemn expression, "Tomorrow, the muzzles of their guns will be at our foreheads." Stanley pointed at his head.
"If we don't do something now, even if we don't die by their hands, we'll be laughed at! If this revenge is not served, I will have no face to stay in the clan!" Frank was intolerable.
Lucas, who had been silent, timely added, "Enzo, say something." He watched everything with satisfaction, as all was going according to his plan.
The best time for him to take his place would be when Enzo, and the Babbitt family fight, and both sides were weakened at the same time.
Frank asked, "What are you worrying about, Enzo? Lydia and Aldo are your favorite children."
What was he worried about? Enzo glanced indifferently at Lucas.
Before Enzo could give a reassuring respond, a voice suddenly sounded, "Father."
Everyone turned their heads, and the one who returned was, surprisingly, Lydia who had been tragically killed by Tim.
"Lydia?" Everyone looked at her.
Lucas's face changed.
So did Enzo's trusted person.
Frank asked in confusion, "Lydia? Weren't you killed by Tim?" He subtly glanced at Lucas. As their gazes met, it was clear they were in cahoots.
Lydia said, "Tim didn't want to kill me, the real murderer was him." Lydia raised her hand and pointed directly at Enzo's trusted man.
The man's face tightened, but he seemed innocently on the surface, "Miss Lydia, you said I wanted to kill you?"
Stanley questioned, "Lydia, are you sure you didn't mistake? Japheth has been your father's right-hand man and watched you grow up."
Enzo asked, "Lydia, explain what happened?"
Lydia confidently replied, "I didn't make a mistake. It was Japheth who wanted to kill me. As for why he wanted to kill me while being your right-hand man, you have to ask Uncle Lucas."
Lydia looked at Lucas and interrupted Lucas before he could speak, "This is not the first time that Uncle Lucas has tried to kill me."
Lucas kept a solemn face. "Lydia, there are some things you shouldn't say arbitrarily. Do you know the consequences of your words?"
However, Lydia continued, "Aldo was not killed by Tim. Uncle Lucas sent someone to kill him."
Slamming his palm fiercely on the table, Lucas exclaimed, "That's utter nonsense!"
"I was at Aldo's villa that day. I saw with my own eyes that Tim was framed by you!
"You hold a grudge against Tim, and covet my father's position as the patriarch. First, you deliberately lured Tim here and killed Aldo, blaming it on Tim. You wanted to incite a fight between my father and the Babbitt family, hoping to seize power in the chaos. "Seeing that my father didn't rush into action, you sent someone to kill me so you could pin the blame on Tim, thereby fueling their hatred. Japheth was bought off by you long ago!" she accused aloud.
The elder members of the Callahan Clan with a say in matters were all shocked.
Lucas yelled, "This is all nonsense!"
Lydia took out a bullet, "This is the bullet that wounded me. You can find out whether or not I'm speaking the truth by examining it."
Lydia tossed the bullet to Stanley.
Stanley caught it and was horrified as he held it in his hand.
He then passed the bullet to Lucas, demanding sternly, "Lucas, what explanation do you have for this?
"A few days ago, you brazenly sent people to take over the territories. You kept saying it was a frame-up, but it doesn't seem like a frame-up today, does it?"
Lucas replied, "I didn't do it. Lydia has been spending time alone with Tim. Who knows what's going on between them? Were you bewitched by him? I wanted to kill him to avenge Logan, but you keep stopping me time and time again. I think you've fallen in love with him. Are you willing to ruin our clan for a man?"
Lydia said, "Who didn't want Tim to die before was my father. And you, Uncle Lucas, have been defying my father's orders all along."
Lucas was speechless by the criticism.
Enzo commanded, "Take Lucas and Japheth away, lock them up."
Lucas was unconvinced, "Enzo, you can't do this - you're accusing me based on her unilateral words, I won't accept it. She has obviously been bewitched by Tim, we can't trust her words!"
Despite his protests, Lucas was eventually led away.
Enzo then turned to Lydia, "Go rest. You've had some scares these days, thank you for today."
Lydia looked at her loving father, "It's what I should do."
"Go now, I'll come to see you after dealing with this."
"Hmm."
Lydia's wounds were taken care of once again. She stared blankly at the bloody bandage that was just removed from her hand.
Her train of thought was broken by Enzo's appearance.
She was somewhat surprised that her father really came to see her. She thought it was just a verbal comfort.
She smiled, "I'm perfectly fine, father."
Enzo stroked her head affectionately, "I still have things to deal with, you get some rest."
"Father," Lydia stopped him.
"Do you need something else?" Enzo turned back.
"Do you love my mother?" Lydia asked him.
Even if he had loved her once, even if just for a moment.
"Your mother?" Enzo seemed to momentarily forget who Lydia's mother was.
Lydia watched his reaction, her hopeful eyes gradually cooling.
"I remember now. Your mother was a prostitute, related to... Do you have a cousin named Liam? Your mother and his mother are sisters. I remember her." Enzo finally remembered.
Lydia's face was expressionless.
Enzo continued to ask, "What happened to your mother? Did she die in childbirth?"
Enzo lost interest in the topic. "Alright, I have other matters to attend to. Lydia, rest well. By the way, answer my question honestly. Was Aldo murdered by Tim or Lucas?"
