Mr. Wright
A globally limited edition supercar parked at the foot of the mountain, from which a wealthy young man wearing a flowery shirt and sunglasses descended, a playboy vibe about him.
He had one hand in his pocket, a frivolous smile playing on his lips.
"Congratulations, Mr. Wright! You've claimed the first place once again!"
Gabriel Wright raised an eyebrow, "You are just too uncompetitive.”
After removing his sunglasses and throwing them to his follower standing next to him, he reached out and casually wrapped his arm around the waist of a gorgeous woman who had come close.
He embodied the image of a hedonistic heir, unrestrained and elegant.
Someone used this opportunity to suck up to him. "Mr. Wright, your new favorite is indeed a globally top-ranked limited edition. The performance is unparalleled!"
"Did I beat you guys with the help of my car, or my awesome skill?" Gabriel let out a contemptuous smirk. "Stop kissing up. You bet, you lost. Remember to transfer the money into my account!"
The few rich young lads sighed loudly, "You always win. This month, each of us has already lost one or two million dollars to you. It's no fun!"
Gabriel, with his arm lounging around the lady's waist, lit up a cigarette, leaning down towards the lighter handed by her.
After taking a deep puff, he chuckled. "Who’s to blame? Isn't it because you are all too craven?"
Then he proposed, “How about following the old rule? Let's have an extra race. Anyone who can beat me will get a million dollars right away.”
"We give up. You always win. We don’t want to play anymore!”
"Is there anyone else on the scene brave enough to take up the challenge? I'll give him a ten-second head start. Anyone who beats me can leave with a million dollars!"
The proposal made by Gabriel was indeed very enticing.
Yet, none among the onlooking crowd dared to respond. These people were all wealthy young men from Biddeford and came here to seek some excitement.
Gabriel was said to be the wealthiest among them all.
His family was graced with highly respected figures in Biddeford, and being the only child, he was quite doted upon.
It was even said that the city mayor’s son of Mapleville, upon meeting him, would have to nudge his head and bend his waist in deference.
Nobody dared to provoke him.
The mayor’s son, Eric Victor, eagerly stepped forward, raising his voice. "Did you hear Mr. Wright? Is there anyone daring enough to step forward for the challenge?"
Despite his query echoing around, the scene was completely silent.
Just as this happened, a taxi inappropriately stopped in front of the crowd.
The car door swung open, and Valentina, a woman seemingly uninvolved, alighted. As she was closing the door, she raised her eyes to Gabriel.
"Me."
As she spoke, the scene immediately erupted with sounds of disappointment.
It was right for them to feel let down.
The girl in front of them, albeit tall, was a bit fat.
Her face was rather attractive, and her eyes carried a rebellious spirit.
But she looked at most just reached adulthood, still a young girl.
Such a young girl probably didn't even know what a sports car was, did she?
Gabriel narrowed his eyes, sizing up Valentina. "You? Girl, this is a competition. It's quite dangerous. You better not join this just for curiosity."
Valentina smiled coldly. "What, are you afraid to accept my challenge?"
Her words were arrogant and provocative, which shocked everyone present.
Gabriel laughed, not angry but amused. He raised his eyebrows with interest and looked at Valentina closely.
This girl, with her bold words, was quite interesting. Her bravery was commendable. He liked it.
"Do you know how to handle the steering wheel? Can you distinguish between the clutch and throttle?"
Valentina snorted and said, "Mr. Wright, you better worry about whether you can keep your wallet intact."
She learned from a piece of online news that this group of rich heirs from Biddeford had come all the way to play car racing on the mountain roads of Mapleville. The stakes were high. The loser of each round had to give the winner half a million dollars.
After the competition yesterday, Gabriel made a proposal on the spot. Anyone who dared to challenge him and win could walk away with a million dollars.
Originally, she just came today to try her luck. She didn't expect to encounter Gabriel looking for someone to challenge him just as she arrived.
The early bird might not always catch the worm.
She was set on getting that million dollars!
Gabriel graced his eyebrows slightly. "And where's your car?"
How could she compete without a car?
Valentina lightly laughed and pointed at a nearby taxi. "How about this?"
On the road, she had already struck a deal with the driver.
Rent his car and if she won, give him a share of twenty thousand dollars.
Valentina's words shocked the entire crowd present, drawing exclamation.
"A taxi?"
"Has this girl lost her mind?"
"Dreaming is a good thing, but delusions are not!"
"Hey! Do you know how much Mr. Wright's car cost? Do you know the configuration of his fancy sports car?"
"He might give you a thirty-second head start, but he will catch up to you in ten. Believe it or not?"
Valentina ignored these voices and merely arched her brow, defiantly looking at Gabriel. "Do you dare to race with me?"
Gabriel, quite interested, smirked. "Sure. But if you lose, don't cry and say I bullied you."
With that, he pushed aside the woman. "Get in the car!"
Then, he directly got into the luxury limited-edition supercar, stepped on the accelerator, and the engine let out a piercing roar.
Valentina got into the taxi, fastened her seatbelt, and skillfully turned the steering wheel.
The racing spirit inside her, dormant for a long time, abruptly woke up.
Speaking of which, it had been a long time since she had last raced.
Her hands were kind of getting rusty.
However, she regained the familiar feeling the moment she started the car.
Valentina drove her car up and parked it next to the supercar, lowering the window. "Mr. Wright, let's start!"
Gabriel sneered. "I don't want to bully a girl. If you want to play, I'll play."
Having said that, he looked at Valentina's taxi with disdain.
She really had a lot of nerve.
"Considering your junk of a car, I'll give you a thirty-second head start."
That was exactly the words Valentina had been waiting for.
On sheer driving skills alone-even if she could pull off fancy maneuvers, it would still be impossible to beat Gabriel's sports car.
But if he were to give her a thirty-second head start, her odds of winning would be secure.
Thirty seconds was plenty enough for her to win this race.
"Let me have a thirty-second head start? Aren't you scared of losing, Mr. Wright?"
"Losing? You think your piece of junk can beat me?" Gabriel scoffed, clearly not taking Valentina seriously and merely treating her as his amusement.
Valentina responded with a meaningful smile, "Well, I'll take my leave first then. Mr. Wright, see you at the finish line!"
