Chapter 770 Siding Her and Standing On Her Side Forever
Blade frowned and stared at Ruby coldly. “What? Do you think you’re more important than his future and the rest of his life?”
Blade scorned and mocked her.
Ruby was not annoyed. Instead, she stared at Blade calmly and said with a half smile on his face, “Leader, why are you looking down on me? What if I’m really the rest of your son’s life?”
“You! How dare a kid like you say something like that?”
Ruby pursed her lips and smirked. It has been quite some time she last felt so elated.
She kept reminding herself that the person in front of her was Blaine’s biological father. He might become her family in the future.
She endured his cynical manner not because she dared not go against Blade but she chose to tolerate him because he was Blaine’s father.
If other people treated her that way, she would have wiped out the luxurious flowers in the backyard.
“Leader, I respect you because you’re Blaine’s father. However, I don’t like how you secretly try to drive a wedge between us like that.”
His method was evil and cheap.
“Do you think I won’t dare to do anything to you?” Blade’s face darkened and his tone was as cold as ice.
“This is your territory. I can’t escape even if I have the ability to do so. However, if you really harm me today, you might regret what you did to me when Blaine comes back from the border.”
She fired back at him in a straightforward manner. Clenching his fist, Blade was speechless.
Ruby was about to leave after she was done talking. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave, senior.”
Junior? She knew that he was a senior yet she dared to talk to him in that attitude?
Nobody ever dared to talk back to him like that. Even Blaine never did that before.
Blaine clenched his fist.
A few guards surrounded Ruby as soon as she arrived at the end of the aisle.
It seemed like they would not let her go so easily.
However, she was not an easy person to deal with as well. She brought a gun along with her when she came.
Blade turned around. Standing at the end of the aisle, she looked at Blade who was standing not far away. “Are you sure you don’t want to let me go?”
Blade looked somewhat tense. “If you insist on staying together with Blaine, he might be called a traitor forever. Do you know how serious this is?”
Ruby lowered her beaded eyes and was silent for a few moments. Then, she lifted her eyes and stared straight at Blade.
“I know how serious this is, but if you can’t live your life however you want, what’s the point of becoming a loyal slave? I’d rather die if I have to give up someone that I love just to live in others’ expectations.”
Blade’s face darkened and said, “You’re still too young now. You’ll know what responsibility is when you reach my age!"
Ruby let out a faint laugh, “I’ve once thought of staying single forever to achieve the supreme ideal. Someone must sacrifice for the world. If I don’t do it, someone else would have to do it anyway. I might as well sacrifice myself.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m trying to say that I don’t feel that way anymore after meeting Blaine. Maintaining peace and achieving the supreme ideal was nothing compared to a person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I don’t care about the future. I only want a peaceful relationship for now.”
She thought she would regret her decision in the future but coming to think of it, people say you would only regret the choices you did not make.
Humans were always like that. They always regret their decisions after they make a bad choice.
However, human beings do not have control over their fate and destiny. If they could control their own life and choose to live their life that way, life would be very boring.
A tinge of sympathy and compassion flashed across Blade’s eyes, but soon after, he looked at Ruby relentlessly and said, “Aren’t you afraid that Blaine would hate you because the whole world blames him?”
“So what if the world blames him? Who would care about him after he’s dead? Moreover, Blaine must have thought of the consequences before deciding to date me. He doesn't even care about his own reputation, so why are you worried for him?”
Blade’s frown deepened as he said, “You can’t change your identity. Both of you might be chased out of R Country if you insist on staying together. Blaine will lose everything. Will you still love him if he had nothing?”
Ruby said, “Who said we have to live in R Country? I love Blaine, not his status or wealth. If I were to care about those, I can simply marry another guy instead of Blaine.”
She let out a faint laugh and said, “Blaine has always sided me. Even if he knew my identity, he would always side with me and that is why I love him.”
There were not a lot of people who would always side with her. Hence, she appreciated Blaine a lot.
After a while, Blade ordered the guards who were surrounding Ruby to retreat.
Ruby turned around and quickly walked out of the Glaceau mansion.
She got into the car as soon as she left the mansion and ordered Old K to drive.
Curious, Old K asked with concern, “Ms. Ruby, you and leader… both of you didn’t get into a fight, did you?”
Ruby cast a glance and said, “Leave this place now. Or else your leader might change his mind if you keep dragging time. I might end up in a bloodshed later and you’ll have to bring my body back to your master and explain it to him.”
Old K shivered for a second and immediately started the car and drove out of the mansion.
Ruby was sitting in the backseat. She rolled down the windows to let some fresh air in.
She opened her hands and realized her palms were dripping with sweat.
She was surrounded by the guards in the mansion. If Blade did not let her go, she would never walk out of that mansion.
She lowered her head and looked at the sweat in her palms. Her brows furrowed.
When did she begin to fear death?
She was used to living on the edge. She realized she really feared death after wanting to live a peaceful life.
A person would really start to fear death and become a loser after living a life of indulgence.
Old K cautiously looked at Ruby through the rearview mirror and asked, “Ms. Ruby, do you think we should tell Master Blaine about this?”
Ruby resolutely answered, “It’s fine. I’m not a b*tch who wants to drive a wedge between them.”
Old K’s lips twitched as he thought, ‘Ms. Ruby always hit the nail on the head.’
That was why Master Blaine could love her for as long as 10 years.
Ruby ordered, “Let’s go back to Kingswood Mansion.”
“Alright.”
Ruby was awakened by the cool breeze brushing against her face. Her lips twitched as she looked at the scenery outside the window.
At some point in the past 20 years, she once wanted to live freely and date a guy just like Serene. She wanted to become a soft and girly girl like Serene, waiting for someone to embrace her.
However, she got rid of that thought in no time.
She always thought it would not happen. Nobody would like her for a long time.
However, she realized that there was actually someone who would side with her and stand on her side forever. Even if she was their enemy, he would switch sides for her.
