Chapter 520 Wedding Ceremony 2

It was half-past nine in the morning when the groom rang the doorbell. Xylean and Serene glanced at each other in unison, and they smirked mischievously. "That must be the groom. Let's go and block them at the door." Verian was afraid they would cross the line when they played the games with the groom and his groomsmen, so she tried to remind them. "Don't overdo it. Just play games that can make the atmosphere merrier and then let them in after that." Xylean smiled as she narrowed her eyes at Verian. "Verian, you're not married to him yet, and you're already helping him. If we let the groom take you away so easily, he won't cherish you in the future." Yannis had the same opinion and nodded her head. It was necessary to test them and their resolve before they let the men into the house. "Leannie is right." Xylean and Serene went to the entrance and stood behind the heavy door with their arms crossed. "Today is the perfect day for a marriage. Shouldn't the groom give us some red packets to complement the perfectness?" Xylean and Serene had researched and prepared various ways to play with the groom and his entourage. Heaton, who was outside by the door, said, "Open the door first, and we will give you red packets." Xylean and Serene opened the door, but both of them still barricaded the entrance. The groom and the groomsmen were gentlemen, so they did not force their way into the house. Besides, it was only a game. Based on the usual etiquette, tradition, and rules, they would have to play by the books. Xylean and Serene reached out their hands with palms up. "President Fudd, hand us the red packets, please." Kush took 20 red packets from his pocket and smiled as he gave them ten each. "Ms. Yellen and Ms. Ludd, there's a lot of money inside. Each of you got ten to indicate the marriage would be ten out of ten. These red packets are perfect, don't you think so?" Xylean snorted in response as she looked at the red packet and tried to assess the thickness and weight of the red packets. "President Fudd is so rich; how could these thick red packets cost him much? However, Serene and I are kind, and so will not make it difficult for all of you." With a smile on his face, Zander wanted to push them aside to enter the house. "These two beautiful ladies are so pretty and kind. We can go in to meet the bride now!" Xylean and Serene opened their arms simultaneously to block the men. "Hey, hey! It's only the beginning. Don't even think about taking advantage of us and slip into the house!" As Heaton's groomsmen, Zander and Wilson had to work hard to help Heaton. Zander used his elbow to poke Wilson, who stood behind him. He turned his head back toward him and whispered, "Doctor Jarret, quickly persuade your Serene to let us in!" Wilson wanted to say something, but Serene interrupted him in a resolute tone. "Don't even think about it! I'm not his girlfriend today! I'm Verian's bridesmaid! You guys want to go through the back door? No way!" Xylean and Serene high-fived, and Xylean praised her partner. "Serene, I salute you!" "Of course!" With a bouquet of beautiful red roses in his embrace, Heaton politely asked, "Then what would you all like us to do to let us in?" Xylean and Serene locked eyes with each other. Their eyes gleamed with excitement, and they were ready to take the men down. "The bride has come up with some brain-teaser questions to test all of you." Zander snorted in disdain. "Brain-teaser questions are so easy. The three of us here have very high IQs, and we're are all highly educated. Do you think we'd be afraid of these childish tests? Bring it on!" Then Serene asked, "What are the three tallest animals in the world?" Zander was temporarily stunned. "What? This is a weird question. What do you mean, the tallest animal? The tallest animal is definitely a giraffe." Xylean held a timer in her hand and reminded them calmly. "I shall count down from one minute. If you can't give the correct answer within a minute, all of you will fail this test." Zander took his phone to surf online for the answer. However, Xylean snatched the phone from his hand. "Surfing online for answers is cheating! No marks will be counted!" "Huh? Aren't you too unreasonable? We can't even surf online for answers?" Heaton smirked and answered the question calmly without any hesitation. "Pig, she-wolf, and hornet." Serene's eyes widened in surprise as she did not expect Heaton to guess the answer correctly. "President Fudd, you're too clever!" However, Xylean did not believe that a serious man like Heaton would often play such childish brain-teaser games or even knew the games' tricks. Xylean turned her head toward the bedroom and yelled, "Verian. Did you tell your husband the answer beforehand? This is considered cheating! No way! This question is not counted!" Zander strained his voice and said, "Hey! You're too unreasonable. You said we're cheating when we got the correct answer. If that's the case, when are you going to let us in then?" Wilson suggested, "Why don't you guys come up with another question? The bride wouldn't know that question, and so she couldn't have informed the groom." Xylean raised her brows. "All right. Listen carefully, then. This time, we won't make things difficult for you. We'll give you a logic question, something you guys should be good at." Xylean continued, "There are three mysterious rooms. There's a massive fire in the first room in which it might erupt and kill you. The second room hides an invisible serial killer, and in the third room, there's a lion, and it had starved for a year. Which room would you choose to keep yourself alive?" Verian eavesdropped the entire conversation in the bedroom. She did not even have the time to react to the question when she heard Heaton said, "Lion. That's because the lion has been starving for a year. Even if it's not dead, it would be weak and barely alive. Why should we be afraid of it?" Zander immediately chipped in, "We didn't cheat this time! You should let us in now!" Surprisingly, Xylean and Serene did not continue to trouble them. "Fine, you guys can enter the room." The groom and the groomsman sighed in relief and quickly marched into the bedroom. The moment Heaton opened the door, he saw a woman in a white wedding gown as she sat on the festive red bed. Heaton was dumbfounded. The woman in front of him had fair skin and rosy lips. Her facial features were fine and exquisite, and her eyes radiated in a warm and tender smile. Heaton had met many enchanting women, but that woman had been the only one who captivated him. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever met in his life—his one and only wife. Zander pushed Heaton lightly from behind. "What are you doing? Quickly bring your bride home!" Heaton held a bouquet of roses in his hand and walked toward Verian. He got down on one knee, and their affectionate eyes were fixed onto each other. "Mrs. Fudd, I'm here to pick you up. Will you come home with me?" Everyone's eyes were on her, and Verian blushed in embarrassment. She covered her mouth and started to giggle. She wanted to follow him home but… Verian stretched both her legs and looked at him in distress. "Both my legs are cuffed. I can't move." Heaton was utterly speechless. It was his first marriage, so he did not expect to encounter so many tricks. Zander was at a loss for words too. "You guys are too mean. How dare you cuffed the bride's legs! You guys didn't want the groom to bring the bride home on purpose!" Yannis laughed. "The groom has to go through many twists and turns so that he would cherish the bride more!" Wilson asked Serene, who stood beside him. "Where's the key?" Serene said indifferently, "We cannot give you the keys so easily, of course." "That's right. The groom has to hold a loudspeaker and walk around the neighborhood. The groom has to gather marriage blessing messages from ten strangers in half an hour. Then you guys can get the key to unlock the cuffs on the bride's legs." As Verian listened to Serene's explanation, she felt that they were a little hard on Heaton. With Heaton's arrogant and noble temperament, he would feel too humiliated to go around the neighborhood and scream with a loudspeaker, right? Verian pulled Xylean's dress lightly to get her attention. "Leannie, forget about it. Just give him the key." Xylean rolled her eyes at her. "You're not married yet. You can't shield him from this!" Verian looked at Heaton helplessly. He had no choice but to do it on his own. Serene grabbed a loudspeaker from the corner of the room and passed it to Heaton. "President Fudd, here you go!"
