Chapter 500 A Wedding Dress Doesn’t Look Good When She Is Too Fat

Since school had not yet begun for Little Jelly Bean, she was playing with her brother in the baby’s room. Little Jelly Bean spoke in a prideful tone, “Monty, little brother is asleep now. I managed to coax him to sleep!” Verian patted the little rascal’s head as she stared at her with a loving gaze. She then said, “It seems like I won’t have anything to worry about anymore in future. Our Jelly Bean is able to take care of her little brother.” The babysitter said, “Yes, madam. Jelly Bean has been watching over her little brother at home and that saved me a whole lot of trouble. Little Jelly Bean sure is a good child.” “Yeah, our Jelly Bean is an obedient child.” Verian squatted down and gave Little Jelly Bean a kiss while hugging her. Little Jelly Bean noticed a letter in Verian’s hand. She asked, “Monty, what’s that?” “This is a notification telling me that the wedding dress I’ve designed had successfully made it through the preliminary entries. However, I have no idea who entered it for me.” Little Jelly Bean asked as she mumbled, “Could it be daddy?” “That’s what I thought as well. I’ll ask him later when he gets back.” Besides, only Heaton had seen her drafts and not to mention, who else would enter for her aside from Heaton anyway? She wanted to share this amazing news with him when he returned later tonight. Verian was gently rocking the baby as the little toddler was sleeping soundly in the bassinet. Little Jelly Bean rested her little head on her hands as she laid while staring at her brother. She said, “Monty, we need to give my little brother a nickname!” After some thought, Verian chuckled and said, “The sister is Little Jelly Bean right? Why don’t we call him Little Pickle?” The instant Little Jelly Bean heard that, covered her mouth and started chuckling away as she said, “Little Jelly Bean is sweet and Little Pickle is salty!” “Why should a boy be sweet anyway? A boy should be salty! How cool would a boy be for being salty, right Little Pickle?” Little Jelly Bean giggled and said, “You will now be known as Little Pickle!” … Heaton returned from work during the evening. Verian suspiciously followed him into the study with a plate of fruits. Heaton raised his brows slightly as he said, “I don’t feel like eating fruits right now.” “What do you want to eat then?” Verian stared at him with wide eyes. Heaton immediately pulled her over before sitting her on his lap as he asked, “Why are you so nice all of a sudden? Did you do something wrong?” Verin blushed as she said, “What can I do anyway? I happen to be an extremely good woman, okay?” “Then, what do you want to say to me?” As Verian sat on his lap, she adjusted her posture a little. Just as she was about to jump to the main topic, Heaton started talking about her weight. “You’ve gained quite some weight there indeed.” Verian was speechless. She was just about to talk to him. However, with that single comment, she pulled away his huge hands that were holding onto her waist and furiously said, “I won’t sit on your lap then! I don’t want to crush your legs anyway!” Just as she was about to get up while she said that, she was held down by the man’s huge hand. Heaton said, “Wow, quite the reaction there?” “Mr. Fudd, don’t you know to never talk about a woman’s weight?” Heaton raised his brows as he agreed with her while saying, “I won’t call you fat in future then.” “... What do you mean won’t call me fat? Am I really that fat now?!” The man assessed her with his dark eyes before offering her his most honest opinion, “You’re actually not fat but you’re just big boned.” Verian nearly coughed up blood. Forget it. She should not argue with a naive man or else it would agitate her further. “Come clean to me. Are you hiding something from me?” Heaton could not recall anything at such a spontaneous moment as he said, “What is it?” Verian could not be bothered to beat around the bush so she bluntly said, “My design. Did you sign up with my entry for the fashion design competition for me?” Heaton was stunned as a shred of pride could be seen in his eyes as he asked, “Did you qualify?” Verian took out that letter from her pocket and showed it to Heaton as she said, “Ta da… look!” Heaton smiled as he read that letter. He said, “You actually made it.” “Heaton, why did you enter for me?” “I like to think that my judgement is pretty good. Although I’ve never learned art or design but based on my own intuition alone, I feel your design isn’t too bad. Since you’ve always wanted that, why not give it a shot?” His simple tone from his statement was filled with confidence. This confidence was enough for her. Verian was completely delighted so she gave him a satisfying bear hug. “Heaton, thanks for signing me up and believing in me. However… the organizers didn’t just qualify me because of their ties with the Fudd Group, right?” Verian was staring at Heaton with a skeptical look before the man raised his hand to flick her forehead as he said, “What are you overthinking for? I have never met the organizers before and the entry was made under your name. Even if the organizers know who I am, they wouldn’t know who my wife is.” “Oh, fair point.” Verian carefully kept the qualification notice away. “When’s the competition?” “The letter says it’s next Friday but the competition has changed. They now require the contestants to show up and present their work while giving a description of it.” Heaton nodded gently and said, “I’ll go with you next Friday.” Verian asked with a funny look, “Don’t you need to work on Fridays? I’ll go alone. It’s fine, alright. I passed the preliminaries and the following round won’t be that easy, so if you go, it’ll be embarrassing if I get eliminated.” “Why would you be afraid of being embarrassed in front of me?” Verian glared at him then got off his lap before saying, “Stone cold men like you will obviously not know how embarrassing it will be to fail in front of someone I love. Sigh, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you. I haven’t even drawn my design for the competition next Friday. I can’t talk to you anymore. Go on and work. Let me think about my entry.” As she was just about to turn around and leave, she was hugged by the man from behind. “What are you hugging me for? I need to draw.” The man whispered into her ear with a deep magnetic voice, “Madam Fudd, you don’t need to worry about failing in front of the man you love because no matter how many times you fail, I will support you unconditionally.” Verian’s heart melted as she felt incredibly sweet and said, “But I don’t want to disappoint you. I want to show you that the woman Mr. Fudd married is also very capable herself.” The man kept a cool look on his face as he listened to her tone. He said, “Who dare call you incapable?” Verian bit her lips as she mumbled, “Even if they never explicitly mention it, that’s how they think.” “We aren’t even working for them so they have no right to control you.” Verian smiled at him as she hugged his neck, stood on her toes to kiss him as she said, “I’d live like a parasite at home if I’m eliminated then.” “Mr. Fudd has too much for you to feed on so eat to your heart's content, Madam Fudd. However, you should be thinking about our wedding after the competition, right?” The old man had mentioned it several times before back then. However, Verian was not done with her confinement yet. Now that she was done, she could no longer delay her wedding. Heaton happened to be a reputable man and news about Madam Fudd would be exposed sooner or later anyway. They would rather hold a lavish wedding than to be exposed by the media earlier. “But I’m so fat now. I’d look terrible in a wedding dress. I want to hold the wedding when I’m a little slimmer.”
