Chapter 121
I pursed my lips. I was indeed afraid of him, though I didn't know why. He had never laid a hand on me, and yet, somehow, I was terrified he might.
I turned my head away, saying nothing.
Jonathan suddenly gripped my wrist stubbornly. "Why are you afraid of me?" he asked.
His voice was deep, carrying an overwhelming pressure that was hard to ignore.
I didn't want to look at him, so I avoided his gaze.
He tightened his hold on my wrist, holding me firmly. "Answer me."
I took a deep breath and stared straight into his eyes. "I'm not afraid of you! Why should I be?"
"Then why won't you look at me?" he asked.
I shouted, "I'm just annoyed with you, that's all!"
Jonathan's expression darkened even more. He pressed his whole body against mine. His warm breath brushed against my skin, sending a shiver down my spine.
I instinctively pushed him away and shouted, "Jonathan, let go of me!"
A sharp pain came from my wrist. The wound I had just treated throbbed like a heartbeat.
