Chapter 80

"I will stay where I want to. None of your business. Odette, give me your cake if you don't like it!" Speaking, I took away the cake in front of Odette. Odette sat there with a straight face when her friends insulted me. She didn't laugh but said nothing to stop her friends. Obviously, it was their plan to insult me here.  Thick-skinned, I focused on the cake rather than the offenders.  Odette then put on a show. "Don't say so. My sister was undocumented, so she never went to school." "Really? Odette, as your good friend, I have to say that the wealth of the Smith family will help her bring shame to you all." Instantly, Angel applauded Ailey's insight. I didn't get angry. I quickly finished the cake and asked, "Where do you study now?" "The three of us are classmates. We are all students of the design department at Costsley University." Angel proudly raised her head. "The design department of Costsley University?" Holding my head, I quickly recalled the composition of Costsley University. Then, I said, "Is that the worst department at Costsley University?" "What did you say? What do you mean by the worst department?" Angel was livid. She gave me a grimace of anger.  "Aren't you from the worst department at the best college in Costsley?" I said nothing wrong. Each university had its weakness. The design department was undoubtedly the weakness of Costsley University. The outsiders thought highly of all students at Costsley University. However, there was a hierarchy based on their majors among the students themselves. "Brag when you get the offer from Costsley University." Odette, irritated, criticized me in a low voice, "Kelly, where are your manners? You don't get admitted to Costsley University. It's rude of you to say so!" "Costsley University! Who said I didn't get admitted?" I took out my mobile phone and found the website of Costsley University. There were my name, ID information, and scores of the exams on the candidate list.  I ranked first on the list. "When did you take the exam?" At the sight of my scores, Odette gritted her teeth. "A few days ago. We will meet at the campus after the new semester begins. However, I, given my scores, will go to the science department rather than yours." I ridiculed these vain girls with the softest tone.  That was a trick I learned from Carroll.  The livid expression on these girls greatly pleased me. "Didn't you say that you quit school after Grade 9th? How did you get into Costsley University?" Odette asked. "I didn't give up studying after quitting school. Not long ago, I studied hard before the exam. "Oh, by the way!" I didn't give up humiliating these girls. "I lived in Phoenix Village, but the blood of the Smith family still flows in my veins. Odette, I have never thought of taking your family away from you. Not in the past, now, or the future. After my arrival at Costsley, I live with the Brown family. I've never disturbed you. Why do you always think that I will replace you in the Smith family? Don't forget that your home is supposed to be in Phoenix Village and that the old lady there is your real family. Shouldn't you instead of me go back to the village?" After this speech, I got up to leave. After two steps, I looked back and said, "The cake is not as delicious as that of Cheuk Restaurant. Your taste is awful." Then, I got in the car. I felt great.  After living with Carroll for a long time, I became sharp-tongued.  I could imagine how angry the three girls were after my departure. Chuckling, I took out my phone. I dialed Opal's number and said, "Opal, I kept my word. Don't forget what you promised me." I attended this gathering because of Opal, who had sent tens of messages to me yesterday. To make Odette happy, Opal had done a lot. Back in Bamboo Pavilion, I was soon surrounded by the salesgirls waiting in the living room. From their nametag, I knew where they came from. They were from the brands G, C family, and F. They brought me the latest designs. Scared, I didn't dare to take one step forward. Fortunately, there was Jason. "They work for famous brands. They came with the latest products of their brands." "Well, they didn't have to come here. I can buy my clothes when I go shopping." I felt uncomfortable in the crowd. I would rather have a fight with Odette than being surrounded like this.  One salesgirl, Vivian, came over and said, "I asked for a job transfer from the headquarters to meet you." "Me? I'm here. What did you do so?" I covered my chest and subconsciously took two steps back. Vivian was beautiful, but I liked men. Vivian couldn't help laughing. "On behalf of headquarters, I invite you to join our design department about embroidery." "Well, sorry. I got a part-time job from Jessica, and the new semester will start soon. I don't have much energy." I declined this invitation. The real reason was that I knew nothing about fashion design.  I didn't want to bring shame to Carroll.  Vivian said sadly, "Does Jessica really want to monopolize the embroidery field? Isn't she afraid of the backlash?" "Well..." I interrupted Vivian in fear that she would go too far. "Could you please stop sending me kid's clothes?" Hearing what I said, Vivian smiled. "Sorry that my colleague made a mistake. You look young. I promise that you will be satisfied with the clothes this time." "Terrific!" Then, a tiring thing happened.  To get changed. There were dozens of new clothes. I kept trying new clothes so that these brands could find out my preferences and size for the next sale. During the process, I thought of the embroidery for Mrs. Anderson. At the thought of her height and career, I couldn't help shivering with fear. Noticing my shiver, Vivian gave me a coat. Then, I realized that Vivian was observant, so I asked, "Vivian, are there clients difficult to deal with?"
