Chapter 68
I stood up and smiled at Professor Leo with confusion. "What is that about?"
"You got an offer from Costsley University. Wait for the official offer!" Professor Leo patted me on the shoulder.
"Pardon? What did you say?"
"She must be wild with joy now. Carroll, see you. I am too old to stay up now. Please advise her to apply for my apartment!" The bright smile on the face of Professor Leo made his glasses awry.
Carroll extended his hand and said, "Jason will drive you home."
After Professor Leo left, I, confused, grabbed Carroll by the hand and asked, "What did Professor Leo say just now? What offer?"
"You got good marks in the exam. Given your quitting school after Grade 9th, Professor Leo considers you a genius.
"So he decided to give you an offer as an exception. Now, you may think of your major, and the wait for the new semester."
Carroll rubbed my head.
However, I was unhappy and looked a bit sad.
I wanted to get an offer from Costsley University by myself, but Carroll helped me.
I said that I should rely on myself, but Carroll solved all my problems in the end.
To be an accessory, was that the meaning of my existence?
Noticing my disappointment, Carroll held me in his arms. "You didn't get the offer through my influence."
I looked at Carroll in shock. "Why did you know what I was thinking?"
"Of course. YELLOW doesn't speak, but don't you know what it is thinking?" Carroll asked.
Tilting my head, I thought for a while. What Carroll said made sense.
However, I said after a second thought, "Carroll, do you mean that I am a dog?"
"No. You're a sick kitten at most."
I was speechless.
"Enough. No more soap dramas. It's midnight. Don't children have to go to bed at 9 p.m.?" Carroll tapped on his wristwatch.
It was true.
One would have to feel sleepy when his partner thought so.
I reluctantly turned off the TV and returned to my room.
That pink room...
However, I couldn't fall asleep after a shower.
Back in Sky City, I shared the same room with Carroll.
Now in Bamboo Pavilion, I had to sleep alone.
This bed was so large that I felt empty.
After turning and tossing for a long time, I slipped into Carroll's bedroom.
His bed was so warm.
"Can't you sleep on the new bed?" Carroll turned over and held me in his arms.
With my face on his chest, I instantly felt sleepy. It wasn't about the bed, but the person on the bed.
When I was in a daze, Carroll suddenly said, "It seems I shouldn't treat you as a child anymore."
"What?" I asked sleepily.
"Very big..." His voice was hoarse, and there were some emotions I didn't understand in it.
"What?"
"Kelly, do you know that it is dangerous to wear no underwear on the bed where there is a man?"
I realized my mistake now. I didn't foresee my sleeplessness after the shower in my room.
Therefore, I didn't wear bra.
Alarmed, I wanted to escape, but Carroll held me tightly.
His deep voice came from above my head. "Calm down. I will wait till you turn 20 years old."
I would soon.
Carroll, waited for me till I was excellent enough to stand next to you shoulder to shoulder ...
My life in the coming days was happy.
I read and played with my pets to kill my time. I even went to Carroll's company when I was bored.
Well, the last option was boring too.
I knew nothing about the coming college life.
In the life that Carroll arranged for me, all I needed to do was to make myself feel happy.
Melody finally came back from abroad.
I went to the hospital with her. With her hands on the glass window of the ward, Melody cried bitterly.
Owen came to the hospital too. I saw him clenching his hands into fists and smashing the wall with them.
"You, you and Melody?" I couldn't help asking.
Owen, who had a face more beautiful than most women, rolled his eyes at me. "Are you kidding me? Can't you see that I don't like women?"
Well...
This candor took me by surprise.
Given his attitude towards Melody, I changed my opinion of him.
"Mr. Owen, you are quite thoughtful for your subordinates."
When Joson appeared, I couldn't help but sigh. "You are quite stubborn."
Owen pulled a long face. "No reconciliation or compensation."
"Why did you refuse me without hearing my offer first?" Joson put one piece of paper on the bench.
"Take it away!" Owen drove Joson away.
"Mr. Owen, you got the project of the Brown Group through Jason's new girlfriend."
"Don't be so hasty to choose your side, okay?"
Joson didn't flinch.
"Her? Jason's new girlfriend?" Owen sneered. "You're such a fool. I made the right decision to choose the Brown family."
Out of worry, the bodyguard led his men over to protect me.
With a faint smile, Joson said, "Check the conditions. Maybe you'll be interested."
After Joson left, Owen asked me, "Doesn't he know that you are his niece?"
"I don't know. The talk between you two was confusing." I didn't understand a single word of their talk.
They just said what they wanted and didn't care about the question from the other.
"Because you're stupid." Owen picked up the paper and looked at it. After a long while, he said, "What does Stephen have to frighten Joson so much?"
"Well, is Abdi the boss behind Stephen?" At last, I asked the question in my mind.
Stephen seemed freaked out when Abdi had beaten him that day.
Owen laughed for a long time before saying, "I didn't know you were so righteous. Not Abdi. More often than not, David, your uncle, is the troublemaker.
"However, the Smith family is of the same character, so it is difficult to tell who the culprit is."
Then, Owen went over to comfort Melody.
David...
The actress, David...
Out of guilt for the Jarvis sisters, I went home without saying goodbye.
Carroll was at home, so I walked to him, depressed. "Carroll, why are there few good guys like you?"
"Why did you praise me all of a sudden?" Carroll asked unhappily. "You look down after a trip to the hospital. You'd better not go there again."
Harris chimed in, "Hey, Mr. Carroll, don't you like the praise?"
"You ask for trouble. Carroll will lecture you soon, trust me." I rolled my eyes at Harris.
Harris, flippant, narrowed his eyes and threw out two invitations. "I wanted to take you to the exhibition about embroidery. It seems you don't want to go at all!"
I took one invitation card, and the pattern I had seen in the magazine last time was on it.
The exhibition was held in Costsley now, and there would be a live show too.
I became excited. "Are you taking me to the exhibition?"
