My Fightback

Looking at the troublemakers coldly, I sat down casually. "Bring me a glass of juice, please." "Coming." Melody bypassed the two women sitting on the ground and brought me the prepared juice. I took the juice, thanked Melody, and took a sip. Furious, Laura shouted heartbrokenly, "Oh, my poor daughter-in-law, the nephew you have raised for years is an ungrateful thing! Oh, poor you!" Crying, she patted her thigh hard. Elaine wiped her tears next to Laura. "My poor mother-in-law! The granddaughter you have raised for 19 years knows nothing of gratitude. To make things worse, she even leaves us here to do the dishes." Melody took out the bill, squatted down, and said, "Ladies, we have dishwashing machines here, so we don't need you to do the dishes here. Please pay the bill." "I don't have money, but Kelly does. Ask her!" Speaking, Laura snatched the bill from Melody and tore it into pieces. Owen appeared with two ferocious bodyguards. "This is Cheuk Restaurant, and we won't tolerate people who attempt to eat and run. Who is the troublemaker here?" After this speech, Owen saw me here, so he rubbed his eyes and said, "Hey, Mrs. Brown." "You're the one in charge, aren't you?" Laura asked as she considered the elegant Owen as her life-saving straw.  With a fake smile, Owen said, "Yes, I am. Do you want to eat and run?" Laura instantly stood up and pointed at my nose. "Not me. She. Go ask her for money." "Why should she pay for what you ate?" Asked Owen. "She is my granddaughter!" "I'm not." I opened my bag and took out one piece of paper. It was the contract that Laura had signed when the Smith family took me away.  I waved the contract before Laura and Elaine. "It is clearly stated that the Smith family will pay in full to break off all my relations with you. They paid you once and for all, so you have nothing to do with me now. There is your signature and handprint. Do you want to go back on your word now?" "Did you sell her?" "Grandma sold her granddaughter out. It's new to me." said Owen, enjoying the farce.  "No, I'm not her granddaughter. Her granddaughter is Odette Smith, the adopted daughter of the Smith family." I took one piece of note out of my bag and then wrote on it. I stuck the note with the message on Owen's arm and said, "This is the phone number of Odette, her granddaughter. Granddaughters should pay the bill for their grandmas." "No!" Laura panicked, "I've raised you for nineteen years! YOU are my granddaughter!" Elaine nodded in agreement. "My mother-in-law is right." With encouragement from her daughter-in-law, Laura perked up. She arrogantly said to Owen, "Ask Kelly for money. Your men are here, so I don't think she has the guts to say no." "Tsk, tsk." Owen curled his lips. "Are you really her grandmother?" "Of course!" Laura looked proud. Owen waved his hand and said, "Come and lock them up." "Yes, lock..." Laura, whose triumphant had lasted less than one minute, was dragged away by the bodyguards. "Hey? Why do you drag me?" Owen said coldly, "Mrs. Brown is our honored guest. Look at you, scoundrels! How dare you call yourselves her relatives! Stay here. You can leave only after your granddaughter pays for you!" "Ah, you bandits! How can you kidnap us here?" The voices of Laura and Elaine became muffled and soon disappeared at the end of the corridor. Owen called Odette. He turned the speaker on. "Hello, is that Miss Odette?" "Right." Odette was courteous. "This is Cheuk Restaurant. Your grandmother and aunt attempted to eat and run here. Please come to pay for them." "Which grandmother?" Odette asked. "The one from the village and good at crying." Speaking, Owen couldn't hold back his laughter. On the other end of the line, Odette fell silent. After a long while, she asked, "Which restaurant?" "Cheuk Restaurant. I'm Owen." Odette's voice became trembling. "Mr. Owen? Alright, I'll be right there." Owen hung up the phone and handed the note to Melody. "Get a fierce bodyguard to call her every five minutes." "Okay, Mr. Owen." I checked my watch, and it was almost time for dinner. I said to Melody after thinking for a while, "I want some seafood porridge. Takeout, please." "Okay, I'll see to it now." Melody left. The restaurant became quiet again. Owen sat opposite me and sighed, "Your grandma has a good appetite." "Mr. Owen, aren't you busy?" I shared nothing in common with Owen.  Owen made eyes at me, "Is there anything more important than Mr. Carroll's order?" "I just knew it, or you wouldn't be so determined." Carroll solved the problem with just one call.  In short, I wasn't capable to take good care of myself. "I now know you aren't interested in me at all. See you. You may wait for your porridge alone." My indifference frustrated the enthusiastic Owen, so he left unhappily.  After a while, Melody reappeared with a wooden food container. "I'll see you off." Following Melody into the elevator, I found her profile like that of Orva, with whom I got acquainted in the night market. "Melody, do you know Orva?" I asked curiously. "Do you?" Surprise flashed past Melody's eyes. "Orva is my little sister. She is in college. I work so hard to let her further her study later!" At the mention of Orva, Melody looked proud. "You're about her age. Are you her classmate?"
