"Wonderful." I followed Rose to the elevator happily.
My room was on the second floor. I went out of the elevator, walked forward, and arrived. I was moved after I opened the door of my room.
The color of the furniture inside the room was pink or white. In the middle, there was a fancy bed with laces and gauze hanging around.
I had seen such a room on TV
However, the room on TV was not as delicate and elegant as this one.
Noticing my thrill, Rose led me inside and said, "Madam, this is your cloakroom. I've sorted out your clothes that just arrived."
The cloakroom was bigger than my home in the countryside.
In the countryside, I didn't have my own room. I slept on a board in the kitchen and had to prepare breakfast for the whole family before dawn.
Never could I wake up when I wanted.
Watching my eyes turn red, Rose took my hand and said, "There's a small study. Tell me your opinion, and I will make alternations or improvements."
"No, no, no." I wiped my tears and waved my hand. "This was the life I didn't dare to dream of."
I walked into the study. In the middle, there was a white desk with golden rims. In addition to a computer, there was the latest model of the phone and iPad on the desk.
All these were beyond my imagination.
A few days ago, I was forced by my grandma to marry the silly boy next door. I thought of suicide because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with a fool who kept drolling.
I had thought that my life would last for only 19 years. I didn't expect fate to bring me to Mr. Carroll and give me a room.
I paced back and forth in the room. My nose was sore, so I couldn't help but burst into tears.
" Rose, I have my own room..."
Rose handed me a tissue and said, "Madam, this is your home. Of course, you have your own room."
"My home?"
Did Mr. Carroll give me a home?
"Yes. It's getting late. Take a shower and then have an early night. Don't forget your visit to the Smith family tomorrow."
Speaking, Rose prepared the pajamas and bathrobe for me. "Madam, do you need me to help you bathe?"
"Why should I visit the Smith family?" I took the bathrobe. "I'm not familiar with them."
My good mood was ruined by the mention of the Smith family.
"Well..." Rose didn't know the answer. She shook her head and said, "Old Madam called and reminded you not to forget yourself."
"Mr. Carroll's grandmother?" I frowned. Why did Old Madame Brown interfere with everything?
It seemed she got involved in whatever displeased me.
"Yes."
Hearing this positive answer, I pouted and went to the bathroom with the bathrobe in my arms.
It seemed the visit to the Smith family was determined.
Rose shouted behind me, "Madam, do you need my help?"
"No, thanks. I'm not a child."
That night, I had a good sleep on the soft bed. When I opened my eyes again, it was past eight o'clock in the morning.
Oh no!
I felt scared because Old Madame Brown had arrived at this hour yesterday.
Rose had prepared a white shirt and tight black jeans for me. The clothes shared the same look as my old ones but felt more comfortable.
Seeing me go downstairs, Jason gave me a sign and said, "Mr. Carroll is waiting for you in the dining room."
"Mr. Carroll?" I looked at the hall warily. There was nobody in the mourning hall other than several bodyguards.
Confirming that we were safe, I breathed a sigh of relief. "How bold!"
"Old Madame is busy with her God. Don't worry, Madam." Jason tried his best to hold back his laughter and led me to the restaurant.
Carroll sat at the dining table with an English financial magazine in her hand. "Morning!"
"Good morning!" I sat opposite Carroll, and the servant immediately served me the prepared breakfast.
There were knives and forks.
I looked at the silver tableware and didn't know what to do. The sunny-side-up egg in the middle looked great, and its yolk seemed like an orange gem. Sunlight came in through the window, and the yolk glinted. What a beautiful scene!
There were colorful salads and bread with jam.
There were so many knives and forks...
I didn't make a move for a long time, so Carroll put down the magazine. "Leave only one knife and fork to Madam."
"Mr. Carroll!" I looked at the savior in front of me with tears of gratitude. "How did God create such a good man like you?"
"Am I that good?"
Carroll put down the bangle in his hand and raised his eyebrows slightly.
"Yes. The best person I've ever seen," I answered sincerely.
The servant took those forks and knives away, and Carroll asked no more questions. He looked at me with a smile and said, "Eat now."
Carroll didn't open his mouth again till I ate up all the food on the table. "Jason has prepared you the gifts for the visit to the Smith family. Jason will go with you tonight."
"Oh." I nodded reluctantly. I would pay a visit to the Smith family tonight.
That was because my master, Carroll, had said so.
"This visit is about the will of Declan Percival."
Carroll seemed to get everything under control, and I was completely lost.
Declan, who was he?
Did his will have anything to do with me?
Why did Carrol seem to know everything.
Noticing my ignorance, Carroll continued, "Declan is your real grandfather. When your mother was pregnant, Declan said that if you were his only granddaughter, your dowry would be a 20% share of Percival Group."
"Oh."
And then? Just do whatever the will said. Why should I visit the Smith family?
Like a frustrated cat, I lay on the dining table. Carroll stretched his hand and ruffled my hair. "Do you remember what I said in the elevator yesterday?"
I thought for a moment and then blurted out, "Fight back."
It seemed that this was the only sentence mattered.
"Great." Mr. Carroll patted my head with admiration.
Suddenly, I remembered something. I took out my new smartphone and said, "Mr. Carroll, would you like to befriend me on Line?"
