Chapter 1474
Then, Solomon remembered what Ines had said to him before—she was fed up with him.
"Damn it!" Solomon took a sip of water, sitting on the couch, feeling sulky.
This woman was really hard to please!
…
In Richworth.
In the morning, Ines received flowers from the security guard at the company's entrance.
"Ines, these flowers were delivered last night. Since no one was at your home, they brought them here," the guard explained.
The bouquet of miniature fragrant plum roses, eleven in total and adorned with pearls, looked exquisite.
Holding the flowers, Ines could not find a card inside. So, she did not know who sent them.
As colleagues arrived for work in the morning, they saw Ines holding the fresh flowers. Full of envy, they teased her about whether they were from her boyfriend.
Ines suddenly thought of Solomon.
It could not have been him, though. He was away on a business trip. How could he have sent her flowers?
Who else could it be, then?
After all, the security guard said the flowers were delivered to her home last night, but no one was there, and they were brought to the company.
She thought back to Solomon's unanswered phone calls yesterday morning.
Arriving at the office, Ines looked at the flowers on her desk, feeling confused.
Her phone rang, and she hesitated to pick it up from the side.
She was afraid it might be a message from Solomon.
Her WhatsApp pinged again.
After hesitating for a while, Ines finally picked up her phone.
It was not Solomon; both messages were from Caleb.
[Good morning.
[Miss Matthams, do you have time for lunch?]
Ines frowned slightly and replied, [Sorry, but I already have plans for lunch today with a friend.]
Caleb immediately responded, [No problem; how about next time? I'll make sure to schedule in advance.]
Ines looked at Caleb's messages and sighed inwardly. Since the director had introduced Caleb, she did not dare to refuse directly. However, she had just broken up with Solomon and was not in the mood to start dating again, nor did she want to leave Caleb hanging.
At that moment, her assistant knocked on the door and informed her that the meeting was about to start.
"Okay."
Ines picked up the documents and walked to the conference room, not bothering to reply to Caleb's messages.
At noon.
Tracey had arranged to have lunch with Ines, and the restaurant was conveniently located near their TV station.
When Ines arrived after the meeting, Tracey had already been there for a while.
"Sorry, I had a meeting in the morning that just finished."
Tracey smiled at Ines. "It’s no problem. I don't have much to do today anyway. Come on, take a look at the menu first."
They each ordered a set meal, and Ines asked for a coffee.
Noticing that Ines had heavy dark circles under her eyes, Tracey asked, "Has work been busy lately? Burning the midnight oil again?"
Ines smiled. "It's okay. We're just preparing for a new program."
When Tracey noticed they had covered most topics as they ate and chatted, she casually asked, "How's it going with Solomon lately?"
Ines's eyes flickered for a moment. She picked up her coffee and took a sip. "We broke up," she said.
Tracey widened her eyes. "Broke up? Why?"
Did they really break up?
Ines smiled faintly. "Maybe we're just not compatible."
Tracey chuckled. "You've been together for two or three years, not two or three months. If you weren't compatible, you would've split up long ago. Why wait until now?"
Tracey knew very well that this was a reason she casually made up, not the real one.
Ines looked out the window, lost in thought. "It could be that we've been together for too long, and the passion isn't as intense as it used to be."
