Chapter 1443

In Richworth. Blair's treatment was progressing without any hiccups. With Mable by his side, he was in a much better mood. It was aiding with the timeline of his recovery. After a week passed, he was ready to have the stitches removed. Mable had spoken to Wilbur beforehand. They concluded that Blair could be discharged from the hospital and head home for the rest of his recovery. There was a trained medical team at the villa. Furthermore, Wilbur would be showing up for routine inspections every other day. On the day that the stitches were set to be removed, Mable sat next to Blair and watched. She felt the urge to cry when she saw the wounds riddled across Blair’s body. More than a couple of wounds on his body required heavy stitches, with the most significant one of them being the gunshot wound he sustained to the left chest. As the doctor skillfully attended to Blair, Mable’s eyes started to fray with red. Then, she felt someone holding her hand. It was Blair, who was looking at her with a gentle glow in his eyes. “Don't worry. It just looks gruesome, is all. It doesn’t hurt anymore.” That only made Mable feel like crying more than before. She had never been much of a crier, but somehow, the tears felt easy whenever she was with Blair. She felt sorry for him. At the same time, she was filled with guilt every time she was confronted with the sight of his wounds. However, she suppressed her tears with an emotive sniff. After the doctor had removed the stitches, she applied medicine to Blair’s wounds and started to bandage him. She gently held Blair's hand and said in a suppressed voice, “No matter what happens from now on, I want you to place your safety as the top priority. Don’t let me see you hurt again.” Blair gently caressed her hair and vowed in a doting voice, “As you command, Mrs. Fowler.” The injury he sustained to his leg had not fully recovered yet, which meant he was still wheelchair-bound. Mable pushed him to the balcony to get some sunshine. It was late autumn by this time of the year, so the weather was significantly cooler. It had been raining for the past two days, and it was rare that the sun was out. They basked in the warmth of the sun together. After a while, Tracey, Arthur, and Solomon showed up. They were here to pick Blair up from the hospital. Tracey addressed Blair, “Kyle is with Zoe today for her prenatal check-up, so he’s a little occupied and won’t be coming to join you. He mentioned he will be visiting you with Zoe at the villa later tonight.” Blair nodded. Upon hearing the mention of Zoe, Mable realized it had been a long time since she saw her. She wondered how Zoe was doing. After all, Zoe should be due any time soon. Around noon, Blair was finished with the last series of examinations and discharged from the hospital. Soon, he was taken back to the villa. Mable had given Aunt Grace a heads up that Blair was still alive around two days ago, and Aunt Grace then proceeded to relay the good news to the housemaids. She also made sure everyone knew to keep it a secret. Mable was very careful to keep Blair’s being alive a guarded secret to not foil his upcoming plans. The security forces around the villa have since doubled as well. They drove directly into the underground parking lot and took the elevator into the house. The children were already told about Blair's discharge from the hospital and that he would be home today. Upon receiving the news, they got up earlier than usual to wait for him. Even Lemon, who was in the habit of sleeping in, had woken up on time. As soon as they saw their mother wheeling their father into the house, Lemon broke away from her brother and trotted over to Blair with his arms held out widely. “Daddy, welcome home!” She was overjoyed now that she got to see her father every day again. Blair hugged Lemon tightly and gently stroked her cheeks. “Have you been a good girl when I was away?” “Yeah!” Lemon’s voice was giddy. Nicki stared at Blair and smiled radiantly. “It’s so good to have you back, Uncle Fowler.” She wished Blair a swift recovery. Blair spoke briefly to the three children before getting lunch with them. After that, Mable helped him upstairs, and Solomon and Tracey left the house. Mable suddenly recalled something and asked Blair, “Where did you install the surveillance cameras in the bedroom? Why don’t I know about them?” Blair mentioned that he would check the footage of the bedroom surveillance cameras whenever he missed her. It was only then Mable realized that there were surveillance cameras installed in the bedroom. Blair smiled and gestured at the crystal chandelier above the ceiling, “Up there.” Mable looked up but could not spot any surveillance cameras. She wagered it must be the concealed sort that was very difficult to detect.
