Chapter 80 Country Bumpkin Bernard
Vivian burst into laughter. "Bernard Jacobson, have you seriously never eaten hot dry noodles before? You have to mix them to get the flavor!"
Amused by Bernard's behavior, Vivian found herself laughing more than she had all day.
"I don't eat this," he said sincerely.
Vivian shook her head. "Truly untouched by the mundane world."
She took the chopsticks from Bernard, mixed the noodles thoroughly, and handed them back. "Try it again."
Bernard took a bite. The first was so-so, the second acceptable, and by the third, he said, "Not bad," continuing to eat with refined manners, turning a simple dish into a fine dining experience.
Vivian watched him, captivated by his elegance.
As Bernard ate, he felt a strange sensation, like a married man enjoying breakfast prepared by a loving wife. Warm, harmonious, beautiful. The feeling vanished quickly, but he found himself longing for it.
When he finished, Vivian placed a paper in front of him. "Time to settle up."
The paper read: Large hot dry nood
