Chapter 4297
“Your injuries aren’t fully healed yet. There’s no need to rush.”
Darren was anxious, but he would not show it. In fact, he wanted to officially put a label on their relationship even more than Caroline did.
“My injuries aren’t a problem, unless you don’t want to marry me. Then, we don’t have to hurry to register our marriage.”
“How could that be? It’s my dream to marry you. From the moment I first saw you, I’ve loved you. It was love at first sight for me.”
Darren hurriedly assured her that he was eager to get married, but he was still worried about Caroline’s injuries.
Caroline smiled. “When you first came to my side, I didn’t have a single admirer. I didn’t have Celine’s delicate looks, and I made myself seem timid. So many people looked down on me. The men who tried to get close to me were all spoiled heirs and good-for-nothings.
“Those who wanted to follow my father’s path, truly good men… Not a single one liked me.”
Perhaps it was not that they did not like her, but they knew she was the Fisher family’s only daughter and was destined to be the next matriarch.
The Fisher head of the family would only take a husband into the family, not the other way around.
Capable men were rarely willing to marry into another family.
Men who married into the Fisher family could not even help manage the family business. Apart from their reproductive abilities and taking care of the matriarch’s daily life, they were practically useless.
Even spoiled heirs were not exactly lining up to marry into the Fisher family.
Of course, the head of the family from each generation still managed to find a husband.
Darren gazed at her tenderly. “You’re the most beautiful woman in my eyes. And I’m grateful no one else competed for you or saw how truly wonderful you are.”
Caroline laughed. “Since you have no objections, I’ll be discharged on Monday. On Wednesday, we’ll go register our marriage.”
“Okay,” Darren agreed.
“Ms. Caroline, please rest for a while. I need to go take care of something.”
Darren realized that they were about to get married, but he still had not prepared an engagement ring or a bouquet of roses.
He wanted to take advantage of the few days they had left to buy an engagement ring and order the bouquet.
Once Caroline was discharged, he would propose properly, and then they could go register their marriage.
What others had, Caroline could not go without.
“Go ahead. Nothing will happen to me here and there are bodyguards outside. It’s safe.”
Besides, no one was targeting her anymore.
Darren left in a hurry.
At the door, he ran into Liberty, who was just about to enter.
“CEO Hunt, what brings you here?”
Darren was surprised to see Liberty, as Caroline had just been on the phone with her discussing work.
It had not been long at all and yet Liberty was here at the hospital.
“After signing the contract with the client, they left, so I dropped by to see Caroline on the way back. Mr. Fletcher, where are you off to in such a hurry?” Liberty asked curiously.
Darren did not tell the truth, only saying he had urgent matters to attend to.
Liberty hummed in acknowledgment. “Then go ahead. I’ll stay with Caroline for a while.”
Darren nodded. He stepped aside to let Liberty into the room, then closed the door behind her. After giving the bodyguards a few instructions, he hurried off.
“Liberty, you’re here! Quick, come help me finish this plate of fruit. I really can’t eat anymore and I’m not hungry at all. If I keep going, I won’t have any appetite for dinner later.”
Seeing Liberty enter, Caroline waved her over, urging her to help polish off the fruit platter.
