Chapter 3794
Sonny replied, “I’m happy. Why do you have to work somewhere far away, Uncle Austin? Why isn’t your boss letting you rest? Doesn’t everyone rest for Christmas? Even my mom is coming back.”
To Sonny, Liberty was the busiest person he knew. If his mother could be back for the holidays, he would think everyone could do the same.
Little did he know that not everyone could enjoy holidays.
“I have to earn money for my future wife, so I came to work at a faraway place. My boss pays me well. My salary is triple if I work on public holidays. I’m not resting because I can get good money.”
Sonny hummed. He probably did not understand what Austin said.
“You can talk to Uncle Zak. Aunt Ser is asking me to go to bed. Good night, Uncle Austin.”
After bidding Austin goodbye, Serenity took Sonny away.
Austin continued chatting with Zachary.
Half an hour later, he heard someone knock on the door. He stayed on the call while opening the door. It was Dominic.
“Ms. Isabella is back, Austin. She asked that you head to the main house’s living hall now.”
“Okay. I’ll head over immediately. Thanks for informing me,” replied Austin.
Dominic said, “I had to come here to grab something anyway, so I didn’t call you. You should head over quickly. Don’t keep Ms. Isabella waiting.”
Austin nodded.
He told Zachary, “Isabella wants to meet me, Zachary. Let’s continue our conversation next time. Help me to handle Mom and Dad. I’ll definitely be back for Christmas next year.”
After speaking, he ended the call and rushed to the living area in the main house.
Isabella had mentioned that she had an event that evening. She usually returned only late at night.
However, she was pretty early that day. It was not even ten yet.
The O’Connors’ manor was still brightly lit. The staff would only get off work at ten at night.
Austin went through the courtyard and arrived at the main house entrance. He unconsciously made his footsteps sound softer.
A housekeeper was waiting at the door. When she saw him, she whispered, “Ms. Isabella is waiting inside. Go in quickly.”
Austin nodded with a smile and entered the house.
Isabella was alone in the living area.
Delphine was upstairs telling Louis a bedtime story to get him to sleep.
Austin stopped about two yards from Isabella and greeted her, “Ms. Isabella.”
Isabella acknowledged his presence but did not turn to look at him.
She was looking at two sets of jewelry and clothes. Louis had bought them for her when he went shopping in the evening.
Louis was a thoughtful child. While he had bought clothes for all his cousins, he got her two sets because she was his biological sister. He even bought her two sets of jewelry.
Isabella disliked wearing accessories. She preferred a minimalistic style and would only put on a necklace at most.
However, she was delighted with the items Louis had bought her. She loved them. It seemed like the love she had showered him with did not go to waste.
The stuff he got her was more than what he got for his other sisters.
Since Isabella remained silent, Austin did the same and simply watched her from behind.
She exuded a peaceful aura when she was quiet.
To Austin, every side of Isabella was beautiful and could easily attract his attention.
“Louis said they used your money for shopping. How much did they spend? I’ll pay you back.”
Isabella finally spoke after admiring the presents her brother had gotten for her.
She closed the jewelry box and turned to look at Austin. When she met his soft gaze, she said, “Have a seat. There’s no need to be so formal.”
