Chapter 3770
The caregiver felt quite aggrieved. It was just a small matter, yet the old man was so furious it seemed like he almost wanted to dig up her ancestors to curse them too.
“It’s fine. You can go out now. We’ll talk to my dad. He’s getting old, and since Mom just passed, he’s in a bad mood and is prone to anger. Please bear with it,” Adrian said, pulling out his wallet. He took a small stack of money of around a thousand bucks or so and handed it to the caregiver. “You take care of my dad every day, and with his bad temper, it must be tough on you. This is a little bonus for you.”
Since he said it was a bonus, the caregiver accepted the money, thanking Adrian before leaving. Although she felt wronged by the scolding, she would not hold it against Hunter, especially since Adrian had given her some extra money.
After Hunter was caught having an affair, he acted like a sycophant in front of Belinda but became unpredictable and moody with the domestic employees. Sometimes, he would yell at them and threaten to fire them over the slightest mistakes.
One colleague had cried from his scolding and quit.
“Why are you giving her money? She didn’t wait for me to hold it securely before letting go, and the apple fell and got dirty. Then she just picked it up, washed it, and handed it back to me. Even if the hospital floor is mopped daily, it’s still full of germs and bacteria,” Hunter said to his eldest son.
“You guys need to be more careful with money from now on and only spend when you need to. You don’t have your mother supporting you anymore. So how did it go? Did you manage to do what I asked you to do?” Hunter did not have much of it but still hoped his sons had succeeded.
Adrian dragged over a stool and sat down. “Dad, just look at our faces, and you’ll know whether we succeeded or not. We can’t even get into our own house. At the company, everyone’s watching us. It’s not like before when we had everyone’s support and respect. That bitch Caroline is impossible to deal with. No matter what I say, she doesn’t listen.”
Hunter’s face darkened. “That disrespectful girl is just so stubborn. She never listens to me. Didn’t you ask her about your mom’s will?”
“I forgot. She made me so dizzy with anger I couldn’t think straight,” Adrian admitted guiltily. “But there’s no need to worry about Mom’s private assets; they won’t take those. I’m just afraid that Caroline won’t share with us. She always acts so righteous and impartial. Just looking at her makes me want to slap her a few times.”
“Forget about everything else for now. We need to secure your mom’s assets first. Find that lawyer and ask if your mom modified the will afterward. If not, we’ll demand that brat divide the assets according to the will.”
Adrian nodded. “We’ll go see the lawyer right away and demand our share of Mom’s inheritance.”
His father was right—they were entitled to demand their share of their mother’s private assets, and it was all above board. As for the Fisher family’s assets, there was nothing they could do if they could not get a thing. They would have to settle for what they could get.
“Have those people from Wiltspoon made any further moves?”
“Not yet. Many of them have left, only the Stone couple is still here accompanying that old man, along with Liberty Hunt and Kevin York. Oh, and Duncan Lewis has come too.”
Hunter thought for a moment and said, “I think because Christmas is approaching and your mother just passed, they’re holding back for now out of respect for the deceased, and her debts are considered to have died with her. Once Christmas passes, things will be decided. We still have some time.
“Over the next few days, you should focus on getting Caroline to distribute your mother’s private assets. As for the stuff in Fisher Manor, we can’t get into the manor during the day, but we can go at night and quietly sneak in over the wall.”
