Chapter 703

Just then, however, the corpse opened its eyes all of a sudden to stare at the crowd. Isabella got a fright, ducking to hide behind Wilbur. The man's expression was stern as he stood between the girl and Logan. Logan looked to be rearing to go, preparing for battle. Saiba and his men looked intently at the Ark King. The Ark King's eyes lit up with a deep red flame, and a peal of laughter escaped his dried lips to echo in the sprawling hall, sending chills down everyone's spines. "I'm so happy you managed to get in here. Your lives are so much more worthy than those idiots'. I like it," the Ark King's mouth opened and closed, rasping out a welcome to Wilbur and the rest with an inhuman voice. "What's going on here?" Isabella could not help but ask at last. This was all very creepy to her, and she needed to know what was happening. Wilbur said in a dark voice, "I think this old zombie's attracting lives for him to absorb so he can be revived completely." The words made the Ark King's gaze move to land on Wilbur. An ugly laugh escaped his mouth. "You're right, but you have no other choice now. I've waited a thousand years for this day to come. My army of death shall overtake the world, and the reign of the Ark King will continue to prosper. I shall live forever!" "Yeah, in your f*cking dreams you will," Wilbur said coldly. The man glanced at Wilbur, surprised. "You've got quite the nerve, haven't you." "Yes, but I don't need you to tell me that to know it," Wilbur muttered, staring coldly at the Ark King. The Ark King looked back at Wilbur. It seemed like he had been lonely for too long and was looking for someone to rant at. "I know you're all very curious, and I'll be happy to satiate that curiosity for you." The crowd said nothing, only looking at the Ark King. "Fifteen hundred years ago, I received this Scepter of Death." The Ark King stared at the scepter in his grasp, his gaze fond and dazed. "I sacrificed the lives of the whole town to get the validation of the scepter, and to be bestowed its power," he sighed, before continuing, "Alas, my body was too weak at the time. I was attacked by the scepter's deathly aura and was tortured to no end. I almost died many times." The Ark King raised his voice all of a sudden, growing with emotion. "But I held on and bore this powerful energy of death. Now I just need enough life, and I'll be able to build a body to be revived and live forever. My army of death will take over the world, and I shall be its one true ruler." The Ark King was overwhelmed with emotion, standing up as the flames in his eyes grew and the scepter radiated with a deathly aura. Just then, the army of skeletons outside began to let off a gray fog that began to drift toward the castle. The skeletons seemed to lose their energy instantaneously, falling to the ground in a scattering of bones. Everyone gulped, sensing that something terrible was about to come. Isabella was terrified, and also in disbelief. This guy had been willing to sacrifice the lives of an entire city just so he would get the power of the Scepter of Death. These people had all been under his reign. How had he even managed to do it? Just then, however, the floor of the hall lit up with gray symbols to form a pentagram-shaped formation in the middle. Just as the formation came to be, several ghost soldiers appeared in it. These soldiers radiated that same deathly aura, wielding weapons forged out of the deathly energy as they faced the crowd with hollow stares. The Ark King let out a loud laugh. He wielded his Scepter of Death, and even more ghost soldiers appeared in the formation. These soldiers' eyes lit up with gray flames of death, charging towards Wilbur and the rest. A wave of deathly aura wafted over at once, shaking everyone to the core. This aura alone would be enough to kill a regular human being. Isabella's expression shifted. She channeled all the aura in her, trying to fight this deathly aura in her. Just then, Wilbur summoned his thunder cleaver, swinging it toward the incoming ghost soldiers.
