Chapter 1714 Enter the Sealed Chamber

Tyr and Olympias arrived at the Sealed Chamber’s gate. Two guards approached them right away. “Greetings, Matriarch.” Seeing that the visitor was Olympias, the guards saluted her at once. “I want to enter the Sealed Chamber,” Olympias said. “May I ask why would you like to enter the Sealed Chamber, Matriarch?” the guard wondered. Olympias frowned instantly. She chided, “Do I need to report to you when I want to enter the Sealed Chamber? Get out of my way.” The group of guards trembled in fright, and they immediately made way for the pair. Olympias was the first one to enter the building. When Tyr was about to follow her, the guard next to him immediately stopped him. “The family rule states that only the head of the family can enter the Sealed Chamber.” Olympias’ frown deepened. “He is my subordinate. I want him to accompany me. Can’t I do that?” The guard replied, “Matriarch, this is the rule of the White family. Please don’t make things difficult for us.” Olympias wanted to say something else, but Tyr said, “Oly, just go in! I’ll wait for you outside.” “Okay then.” Olympias nodded. She turned around and headed to the Sealed Chamber. *** At the same time, in the Great Elder Clovis’ residence. The Great Elder was playing the harp under the same large tree. There was another man that sat across from him at this time. This man was Jules. Before that, the Great Elder had always supported Ansel, and he was on the opposite side of Jules. Now, these two were seated together, which was rather surprising. Furthermore, Jules’ demeanor toward Clovis was respectful and humble. Everything seemed a little strange. “All of Ansel’s forces have been purged. The majority of his men have been wiped out, the rest have surrendered. I’ve dealt with all those who refused to yield.” Jules had lost his previous benevolent demeanor as they sat opposite each other. A look of excitement was present on his face as he spoke. “In this case, is it true that you now have control over the entire White family?” “I only have seventy percent,” Jules replied. “But it’s enough.” “What did Olympias say?” Clovis asked. Jules smiled. “That girl wanted to pass me the position of patriarch, but I refused.” “Hehe! It’s a correct move for you to refuse,” Clovis added while laughing. “I’ll gather the Council of Elders and the core of the family for another meeting. Olympias will hand over her position to you at that meeting, and you take over as the White family’s new patriarch. When you become patriarch, the entire White family will undergo a complete transformation.” “Of course.” Jules nodded. He looked at the surroundings and breathed a sigh of relief. “The time has come, and the day has arrived.” Jules and Clovis’ behavior at the time suggested that they didn’t hate each other at all. Rather, Clovis had always backed Jules up. Furthermore, Jules did not appear as secretive in front of Clovis as he did previously. He appeared to be completely frank with his thoughts and emotions at that time. He had never mentioned his desire to be a patriarch in front of anyone before. He’d always maintained his demeanor that he had no desire to fight for the patriarch. He made no secret of it in front of Clovis at the time. It was enough to show that the two had an unusual relationship. Jules dared to completely expose himself in this way only in front of the person he trusted the most. At that moment, Jules’ phone rang. He pressed the answer button on the phone. “What’s wrong?” “Master Jules, Olympias is here in the Sealed Chamber.” The voice of a middle-aged man came from the other end of the phone. “What?” Jules’s heart thumped ferociously all of a sudden. His brows were tangled instantly. “What’s wrong?” Clovis, who sat across Jules, immediately inquired when he noticed the odd expression. “Olympias went to the Sealed Chamber. She must have gone there to find out what happened back then. She must have visited Ansel before this.” “That girl still doesn’t give up.” Clovis chuckled. “Then… what are we going to do?” Clovis slammed his hand down on the kinnor harp in front of him with ferocity. “We should have finished the task back then,” he said coldly. “Our effort might be wasted. I left this calamity alive twenty years ago, and I don’t want anything like this to happen again.” “Let’s kill her! No one in the family can compete with you now anyway,” he suggested. “Well…” Jules hesitated. Clovis frowned instantly. He said coldly, “What is it? Are you going soft now? Those who have achieved great things will not be troubled by these things.” “I know.” Jules nodded before dialling another phone number. *** At this time, Olympias had already entered the Sealed Chamber. An old man exited the building as soon as she entered. That old man had a hunched back and appeared to be nearly eighty years old. “Grandpa Slaine!” Olympias was shocked when she saw the old man before calling his name out loud. “Oly, you still remember me even though you haven’t seen me for so many years?” the old man asked with a smile. “Grandpa Slaine, why did you come to the Sealed Chamber?” “Haha, I have been here for nearly twenty years.” Slaine was the name of the old man. He was a member of the Council of Elders more than two decades ago. Olympias had met him in the family when she was a child, but Slaine vanished without a trace. Olympias was young at the time and had no idea where he had gone. She didn’t expect to see him today in the Sealed Chamber. “Have you been in this Sealed Chamber for the past twenty years, Grandpa Slaine?” Olympias asked in surprise. “Well, I don’t stay at the chamber all the time, but I’m in charge of this place,” Slaine explained. “Though only the head of the family has had access to this vast chamber for generations, it was always necessary to manage and clean it. I’ve been in charge of this place for all these years.” With that being said, Slaine sized Olympias up and down. “I remember the last time I saw you, you were a little girl.” He sighed. “I had not anticipated you becoming the White family’s matriarch. Congratulations!” “Hehe! Grandpa Slaine, this position is only temporary,” Olympias replied with a smile. “I’ve already informed Uncle Jules that he will be named patriarch soon. That’s what I believe Grandpa meant before he died.” “Oh, is that so?” Slaine wasn’t surprised by Olympias’ decision. He was no longer a member of the Council of Elders, but only the Sealed Chamber’s gatekeeper. In this case, he didn’t care about who would take on the mantle of being the head of the White family next.
