Chapter 1709 The Mastermind Behind the Scenes
These assassins were not only able to fight well, but they were also able to think clearly. When they realized something was wrong, the three of them worked together to shove Tyr away from the scene, turned around, and fled.
The trio’s speed was breakneck. They had dashed away from a distance of seven or eight meters in the blink of an eye, just like a gust of wind.
Tyr’s facial expression became gloomy. He immediately chased after them with Nine Steps to Disorientation flashing beneath his feet. With the sound of a slash, Tyr chopped on the back of that Transcendent warrior at peak stage with a heavy blow.
That assassin let out a muffled sound and pounded toward the ground in front of him.
When the other two opponents saw this, their hearts all thumped violently. They considered slowing down to save their companions, but when they saw the White family guards rushing over rapidly from a nearby location, they did not slow down at all. Instead, they took off as quickly as they could from the mansion.
Tyr did not pursue those assassins any further. He was not familiar with the terrain at all. Furthermore, those assassins were Transformation powerhouses, making it difficult for him to catch up. On the other hand, there was no need for Tyr to pursue them any further because he had caught one of them here.
This assassin was a dark-skinned middle-aged man. During his recent battle with Tyr, he was seriously injured. He took another slash in the back now. Overall, he appeared to be frail.
Tyr approached him quietly and sized him up. He asked, “Who sent you here?”
The man remained silent. Instead, he simply closed his eyes and said, “If you want, you can kill me. I won’t say anything to you.”
“Oh, suit yourself.” Tyr didn’t ask any more questions after that.
The guards had already rushed toward them at this point, “Mr. Summers, what’s going on?”
The leading guard was Goswin, who was in charge of the night patrol tonight. Someone barged into the Regis Tower under their watch, so Goswin and his team must be held accountable.
However, these assassins were very powerful. It was normal for them to be able to slip in underneath Goswin's watch. At the same time, all of this could be conveying another message. These assassins were likely have someone helping them within the family, allowing them to come and go as they please in the mansion.
Or, these three were originally from the family.
“They attempted to assassinate the patriarch,” Tyr explained it in a simple manner before he turned around and entered the tower.
Goswin and those behind him were all stunned on the spot.
The White family members began to flock toward the Regis Tower in droves. Many of them were enraged when they heard the news.
How dare these assassins come to their turf to murder their patriarch? It didn't matter whether these people supported Olympias or not; the act of these assassins was a slap in the face of their family.
“Who do you think is the mastermind who sent out those assassins, Boss?” Olympias was standing inside the Regis Tower. She had already calmed down by this time.
“Since you were announced as the White family patriarch, there have been many within the family who want to kill you,” Tyr said, shaking his head. “I dare not say who ordered them to murder you. However, despite you being the patriarch, there was not even a guard that was stationed in the Regis Tower to protect you. Don’t you think this is strange?”
Olympias glanced at Tyr suspiciously.
“We can’t see through the situation, and we can’t get involved with it,” Tyr chuckled. “We need to get involved if we want to see through the game. If we don’t want to get involved, we can watch a fight between two tigers from afar and profit from whichever side wins.”
Olympias nodded.
“I’ve caught one of the assassins,” Tyr said. “The White family must find a way to pry his mouth open, and the final result will be known soon. The troubles in this family are far too complicated,” Tyr continued, rubbing his hand vigorously on his temples a few times. “Let’s play it by ear. If things truly spiral out of control, we will withdraw immediately.”
“Okay.”
That assassin had already been apprehended by Goswin and others at this point. After a short time, all of the elders of the Council of Elders, as well as Jules and others, arrived at the Regis Tower.
“Oly, are you okay?” Jules went up to Olympias at the first opportunity after they arrived, his face filled with worry.
“I’m fine, Uncle Jules.” Olympias smiled and shook her head. “I am with my boss. Those assassins can’t hurt me.”
“I am glad that you are okay.” Jules nodded, then he said, “Tyr, I really appreciate your help this time.”
Tyr replied, “Naturally, I won’t let anyone hurt Oly on my watch.”
“It’s impossible for us to let this situation slide. I will never forgive the mastermind behind this, regardless of who they are, because they attempted to assassinate the patriarch of the White family.” Jules, who has always maintained a calm demeanor in all situations, clenched his fists at this time, clearly furious. It appeared that the assassination attempt had crossed over his bottom line.
The council elders were also enraged.
“There will be an explanation for this matter tonight. We will be able to find out early tomorrow morning.” These people were even more agitated than Tyr and Olympias.
The family then dispatched a large number of warriors to guard the Regis Tower to ensure Olympias’ safety. This measure gave people a feeling as if they were making amends.
Tyr and Olympias continued to stay in the Regis Tower. The night of the White family was no longer peaceful.
That assassin was interrogated all night by the Justice Hall. Outside, the family dispatched several Transformation powerhouses to track down the remaining assassins.
When the sun rose the next day, everything seemed to have come to light. It rained all night last night, and when it was dawn the next day, the entire road was wet.
The leader of the night guards, Goswin, rushed toward the Regis Tower hurriedly at this time.
After his arrival was reported, Olympias and Tyr walked out of the tower. Goswin stepped forward to greet Olympias at once, “Patriarch, the mastermind behind your assassination yesterday has been found. They were sent by Master Ansel.”
When they heard the name, Tyr and Olympias didn't feel a lot of emotion in their hearts, because it seemed that all of this could be easily associated with Ansel. When they found out about this, Tyr and Olympias felt there was something off with this situation in their hearts.
Goswin reported, “The Justice Hall, the Council of Elders, and Master Jules are all ready. Now I ask the patriarch to give your order for the arrest of Master Ansel.”
Olympias’s expression became murky. Throughout the incident, she felt as if she was being strung along by someone. She asked, “Boss, what should I do?”
“Let’s just sit on the mountain and watch the tiger fight.” Tyr shrugged. “The mastermind got everything ready for us. You don’t have any choice.”
“Okay.” Olympias nodded and asked Goswin, “Are you sure?”
“That assassin confessed in the early hours of this morning,” Goswin replied. “Someone secretly recorded Master Ansel’s and his accomplices’ conversation in his study yesterday. They were plotting how to assassinate you after they returned yesterday.”
