Corporate cocktail parties abroad weren't much different from those back home. They were filled with elegant attire, clinking glasses, and polite small talk.
Trisha held a glass of champagne and stood quietly in a corner, watching the unfamiliar faces around her.
No one here knew her past. All they knew was that she was the sole heir of Newton Group. Every gaze directed at her carried only respect. No one looked at her with sympathy or treated her like a subject of gossip.
"Ms. Newton." Tommy appeared beside her at some point, holding a glass of honey water. "Drink less alcohol."
She accepted the glass, her fingertips icy.
"Why aren't you networking with others?" she asked.
"My job is to follow you." His tone was matter-of-fact as ever. "I go where you go."
Trisha's expression softened slightly. "You don't have to do that. You can get off work early today."
Tommy looked quietly at her for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Can I ask you a question?"
